The most enjoyable Pirate game I have ever played was the Pirates of the Carribean (CotC) back on the X-box despite the terrible glitches that Bethesda is more than famous for... all the same, that is the only pirate game I am aware of that allows you to work on getting several ships, allows you to do great sea battles, board the enemy ships, explore the sea and various islands, work on manning your crew with whoever you want, good melee and ranged combat system, and good realistic graphics.
This is what I am looking for in an mmo pirate game... good leveling and ranking system, controlling 1 charater ...(multiple character control is fine as long you dont control a whole crew and your own fleet of ships :P ) Guild system that allows members of said guild to be the members of the ship's crew. The more the guilds income based on donations or quests completed or whatnot allow the guild leader to upgrade the ship, replace the ship with a better one, or buy a new ship and therfore raising your rank from Captain... argh... forgot the title name, anyway, up to the next rank up lol, for you control multiple ships, and allowing your most trusted guildy Captain of the weaker ship. This allows nicely growing guilds to actually be able to command a naval army. The sea battles would have to be done well, at least as well as CotC. Having land melee battles with guns available. A huge Sea to explore with various island ports you can choose to be allied or enemy to, allowing allegence to whatever nation your guild has chosen to follow with the ability to change alliegence by aiding another nation against your own. Good realistic graphics. realtime and skillbased battle system requiring you to fight, not hit 1 and see your guy do an attack mixed with auto attacks. I have played games like WoW to the point that those combonations make me hate people cause I think it is so easy to do yet others fail, if the battle style is based on true skill, then its far more understandable if an ally falls. I am not trying to go on as long as I have, but I have this whole idea in my head how a pirate game should be and I have never found anything I can consider to be close. If you can think of any free mmos like this, then I love you! lol, if there is something that is p2p but closer to what I am looking for than any f2p then I dont care about having to pay. If there is a game out there similar to my specifications yet isnt an mmo and therefore you would play as captain with a crew, it would still be an incredible game. There is indeed a PotC MMO, but I personally found it to be crap if you don't have a paid account. You can try the free version tho and see if it's what you're looking for.
Otherwise, all I can think of is Tales of Pirates. Not really too good, but I found it entertaining for a while some years back. There sure is a huge world to explore, both by foot and ship. Worth a try at the very least.

I used to love Voyage Century, really epic pirate game.
You control one guy, you can equip him with all equipment and stuff and explore islands, you can learn mining, wooductting, shipmaking etc Theres a great skill system, and many other things that make this game great Also you get your own ship (Ships! you can have a few in docks) that you can upgrade and customize, also the ship v ship battle system is great, and exploring islands is just plain fun. The graphics are also fantastic (Better than the screenshots i provided) http://vc.igg.com/ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

heh, ya, I dont want just regular pirate games, I want something that works as a true pirate game. I have played the disney PotC but just... it sucks, you really dont want to get into that game. ... Especially because Sea Dogs was done by Bethesda, Disney cant make a pirate game, that was all Bethesda before.
Voyage Century looks really good, I will check out the site, get more info about it. I think I remember trying this game back when it was in beta testing, it had a huge Sea Dogs feel to it. I forget how the controls work though. I imagine its point and click, but if you get to properly control your characters movements... I would love the ability to use my 360 controller for this game. ok, I am off to learn what I can about this game thanks thedudesam!
