Hot off the press!

There is now an Auto-craft feature, this allows you to stockpile crafting resources and choose a plan to craft then click the Auto-craft button and the game will begin automatically crafting those items.

It is basically for unattended crafting!

Enjoy!

I hope you don't mind some criticism, from a programmer to another programmer. I know programmer are usually hard-headed. (me included)

A large portion of the internet do have flash. To be honest I don't know how many people don't have flash installed nowadays. Plus flash or java isn't that hard to install, and it's actually seamless. At work or at school people can install it easily and nobody would even notice. And for those who can't, they are not the large portion of the internet IMHO. Flash is the large portion of the internet now.

This is a criticism post( hopefully constructive ). so look up. Flash is a multi-billion dollar market. >.>
And flash is actually pretty simple.

How can I put this in a constructive way. If it were written in Flash/Java it "could" have a decent average-level of graphics and animation( which your game currently don't have). Which is the standards of games nowadays (those with animations, not text-based game). Why is it the standard? Its not about eye candy. Its all about user-friendliness. When your game is unfriendly and with all that flickering etc. It doesn't make the player stay for the gameplay or the storyline. You can have the best storyline or the best gameplay, but if you don't have at the very least an average level graphics/animation-engine, not a lot of people will stay. Simple as that.

As a programmer you should know that, there's no such thing as a perfect code, and it's always the code fault, a bug is a bug. We as a programmer should understand that, so we can move on to repair it. Even the basic like printf isnt perfect, thats why there's a printf_s.

End of criticism post. Hopefully it was constructive.

A programmer to another programmer talk.
Here's something that someone told me before,

There are 3 types of game creator in the game creation world,
one who create stuff for money,
one who create stuff for self-satisfaction,
one who create stuff for passion/expression.

The first one creates stuff what that the user wants, as you can see with all the hype in the free MMORPG section. Great interface and user-friendly, great graphics, but no essence.
The second one usually creates something new, something fresh, a new gameplay, a new system, but usually unplayable because they set themselves as a standard, not from the eyes of other people who would be playing their games.
the 3rd usually creates something unique and interesting. Powerful and deep storyline, great world feeling. But usually ends with repetitive or non-existent gameplay. People usually will still play it, and it still can be a hit game.

balanced == profit???!

Just so you know, I'm no 2 >.<

The flickering issue is simply browser caching, I can not control an individuals browser cache although I could try to pre-cache images.

There are however tens of thousands of images used in the game and this would be inpractical for new users to spend 20minutes while thousands of images are cached on their computer before they can login.

Different browsers handle image caching differently, in IE for example it will not show an image until it is cached. In Firefox it shows a placeholder box and then when the image is cached the box goes away.

This is where the flickering stems from, it may be annoying to the people who use Firefox but the Login screen of the game clearly states we recommend Chrome or Internet Explore to play the game in and Firefox is only partially supported.

I have nothing against Firefox or its users and generally once you have been playing for a while the flickering goes away because you have cached most of the images.

As for the Flash argument, there are still many millions of people who enjoy playing games that do not use Flash.

I have been in the programming business for over 10 years and have a great deal of experience providing solutions, products, databases and games to end users.

My dilemna is simple to come up with a Flash version of the game would require months of re-training, together with thousands of dollars invested in new artwork. As a sole developer finding funding for projects is hard ... / impossible especially in todays climate.

As a developer yourself I am sure you can respect the fact no third party plugins were used and the game is coded entirely using VBScript/ASP and Javascript.

Halloween Content is now Live!

A number of quests have been added from a new NPC in New Hope Park at the start of the game.

You can collect Halloween tokens as items found on the floor or as loot from Pumpkin kills in a small pumpkin patch dungeon.

Turning these in to the NPC will yield any number of cool Halloween related items including the Pumpkin form.

Please note these quests will run up until November 1st so if you wish to get some of these Halloween rewards you should try to play as soon as possible.

Please don't take this the wrong way... but does you game not have a new/development diary section?

This thread is just you posting every time something changes in the game, is there really any need or is it just spam/self promotion?

I think if you simply added a dev diary section to your game's official webpage there would be no need to constantly keep replying to yourself in forums...

I'm impressed, seriously; from what i've seen it is probably the best homebrew game made within the last year for sure.

Hello,

I post on this thread about once a week, or longer while the Development Thread on the official game forums is updated daily, as you can see that thread runs to 22/23 pages.

I only post major changes here, while the Development thread contains minor tweaks/updates as well as major changes.

I do not consider it spamming, this is after all a gaming forum and this is news about a game.

I am not telling you all to come play the game, I am merely offering information that may or may not make you think the game is worth taking a look at.

Decius

I'm tempted to try out this game, but I have had many experiences with small dev teams and usually end up shuting down there game. So I would hate to invest my time into a game that will just be shut down in 6 months from now...

So if you don't mind me asking how do you support your games? Excluding donations.

Game features look great btw!
