Section 1 - Pure Introduction

I hear many people ask "Why would you want to use a pure to PK with? It's so unfair." This is exactly why! You have the upperhand in a fight with someone at or near your level that is not pure, due to the amount of strength, range, or magic you may have in your pure (depending on what type of pure you are, of course). The motto for a pure is: "A good offense makes for the best defence". And that is what a pure is. A bloodthirsty killing machine. The basic use of a pure is to PK, whether in Bounty Hunter, Clan Wars, or in the new PvP worlds. And if you didn't know that, well, I just made you smarter!

Section 2 - Combination Pures
A combination pure, also known as a hybrid, is a pure that would have more than one stat (attack/strength, range, magic) trained in order to PK. I, personally, don't do this, but some people train all three to attack with ranged, mage, then switch to a 2H sword and try to get a kill. Now, there is nothing wrong with that, but keep in mind, it is pricey, and takes practice. A lot of people use range/melee, melee/range (a melee pure with ranged to make HP higher, and to have Dragonhide armor for extra defence), mage/range (same thing as melee/range, just with magic), or range/mage. Now, this guide is ONLY going to cover melee pures, or strength pures, so if this is not what you want, you should stop reading now.

Section 3 - Choosing a Name

When choosing your pure name, in this case a melee, or strength pure, you are going to want something that will intimidate your opponent, and something that sounds nice. I like to try and keep numbers out of my pure names, but that is up to your preference.
You should choose a name like Melee_Owner, or M_E_L_E_E. Maybe even M_3_L_3_3. These are just examples, and are most likely already taken. Sorry. You could also do something like I Melee I. Again, just examples.
Another alternative for a name is something that may come across to your opponents as 'noobish', therefore making them comfortable fighting you, but you know you have them tricked. This would be something like: Dragon_Boy19, or Blue_Bird119.

Section 4 - Getting Started
After logging in for the first time, you will be prompted to choose your character's looks, and you will undergo the tutorial. I am not going to walk you through this, as it is self-explanatory, and goes relatively fast.
Upon completing the tutorial, the Knight will have given you some lamps to use for free experience towards a stat of your choosing. In this case, you should put one into attack, and one into strength.
Next, follow the road West until you're almost to Draynor Maynor, and head north through the trees into Barbarian Village. From here, go slightly Northwest until you get to a small building with a ! next to it on your minimap. Go down the hole marked by the !. Here, go around and read all of the little door panels, making sure you hit the little thumb in the bottom right of your text box. Now talk to the guard and ask him if you can go upstairs. He will say yes, but he will teach you about the Report Abuse feature. Next, go up the stairs, and talk to the teacher. When he asks if you want to take the exam, say yes, and take it. Turn it in when you're done, and you will get two lamps. This time, put both of them into strength.
Now head back down the stairs and go down the hall until you find a cell with no door. From here, click the poster to pass through, and go down the nearby staircase. Cross this hall and go up the stairs opposite the ones you came down. Go straight, and around the curve, and keep going until you reach a staircase. (Do not worry, the cockroaches are not aggressive). Go into the room in front of you and go all the way to the end. There is an 'Old Lever'. Pull the leaver, exit the room, and go back down the stairs. Here, there is a door. Pass through and go to the left, and around the curve, to the chest in the wall. Search the chest and you should get 10,000 GP, and Safety Gloves. Go back around the corner, through the door, and back up the stairs into the room. In the corner opposite the lever, there is a rope. Climb up it. You should now be outside the building.
Now head back East into Varrock, and go to the Grand Exchange. Here, talk to the Grand Exchange tutor. You don't really need to read what he has to say, but you can if you have never used it before. Now go over to the center, to the counter, and bank all of your items besides the money, and the gloves if you are going to wear them. Right click one of the Grand Exchange clerks and click Exchange. Buy full Iron, an Iron Scimitar, a Steel Scimitar, and a Black Scimitar. You can buy the 2H's too if you want, but you don't have to. Also buy an Amulet of Strength, and a cape of your choosing (because honestly, RuneScape characters look dumb without a cape), These may not be available right away, so I recommend buying at the highest price. Now equip your full Iron, Amulet of Strength, Iron Scimitar, and cape. Keep your steel scimitar in your inventory. Walk into Varrock Square to the clothing store, and buy some Leather Boots. (Any armor helps).

Section 5 - Training Pt. 1

Use your Home Teleport spell, and walk West to the chicken coop nearest Draynor. Here, kill chickens until you are 5 attack, and 15 strength. Keep the Feathers and Bones. Once you get a full bag of Bones, walk North to the cow pasture, and in the Northwest corner, there are Bank Deposit Boxes. Here you can drop off the Bones. Repeat this until you get the stats named previously.
Next, go back to the cow pasture North of the chicken coop, and kill cows until you are 10 attack, and 25 strength. (Upon reaching 10 attack, go to the Lumbridge bank in the Lumbridge Castle in order to pick up your Black Scimitar. Deposit the Cowhides and Bones in the Bank Deposit Boxes. If you get low on HP, go back to the chicken coop until you recoop most of your HP, and continue banking feathers and bones.

Section 6 - Money
After you are done at the cows, go back towards the Lumbridge Castle to the goblins. Here, kill them until you are either low HP, or have a full bag of bones. Also be sure to keep atleast 10 GP from drops. Now go through the gate into Al Kharid. At the bank, insert your Bones and take out what is left if your money, and as many Cowhides as you can hold (27). Now walk slightly North to the Tanning Shop, and ask the Vendor to tan all of your Cowhides into Leather. Repeat until all of your Cowhides are Leather. If you have enough money left, which you should, unless you bought something extra, buy a Mithril Scimitar at the local Scimitar Shop in Al Kharid.
Now go back to Varrock to the Grand Exchange, and put the Feathers, Bones, and Leather into the Grand Exchange at Market price. They may not sell instantaneously, and if you want, you can log out and switch worlds to your satisfaction until they are sold.
At this point, nothing else should be bought!

Section 7 - Training Pt. 2
Walk West out of Varrock to Barbarian Village with your equipment, and Mithril Scimitar in your inventory. Then go Northwest to the Monk Monastery. Here, you should kill monks until you reach 26 attack, and 35 strength. Be sure to collect the bones, and bank them in Edgeville to the East when you get a full inventory. If you get low on HP, which you will over time, talk to the monks and ask them to heal you. Repeat until you reach the stats provided.

Section 8 - Questing
From the Monastery, walk South, past Draynor Maynor into Draynor Village. Go into the house with the * over it on your minimap, and talk to Morgan. Follow the text, and accept his quest to slay the vampire. He will say to talk to Dr. Harlow at the Blue Moon Inn in Varrock for more information on how to kill the vampire. After the conversation, walk upstairs, and open/search the cupboard to get Garlic. Now go back North to Barbarian Village, back East to Varrock, and to the Grand Exchange. Put the Bones from the monks on the Exchange at Market price. This probably will not be neaded, but go ahead and buy 2-5 cooked Trout on the Exchange for fighting the vampire.
Now go to Varrock Square, to the General Store, and buy a hammer from the clerk. Now go South to the Blue Moon Inn, and talk to the Bartender. Buy a beer. Then talk to Dr. Harlow and tell him abour Morgan's request. He will want a beer, so give the one you bought to him. He will give you a stake. Now go all the way back to Draynor Maynor, and through the front gate. Go in the house, through the next door, and take a right. Go through that door, and down the stairs. When ready, open the coffin, and the vampire (level 34) will come out and start attacking you. Keep fighting him, and eat the trout if you need to, and when his health bar is all the way red, you should automatically stab him with the stake, and you will have completed the quest. You should now be 30 attack, congratulations! Now go back to the Grand Exchange, buy an Adamant Scimitar, and see that the bones you had were sold.

Section 9 - Training Pt. 3
Buy 100 cooked Trout on the Grand Exchange, and go to Barbarian Village, into their main hall. Here, train your strength to 40, going back and forth to the Edgeville Bank to get more food. If need be, you can buy more food to finish it out, and while you're at it, buy another 100-150 cooked Trout or Salmon.

Section 10 - The Stronghold of Security
With a full pack of Trout or Salmon, go down into the Stronghold of Security in the Barbarian Village center. You should make sure you have Recovery Questions set at this point. You may or may not be able to go through the first portal, and if you can, just open the box, and climb down the ladder. If not, go through the doors, answering the questions until you get to the center. You will not be able to use any portals after this, but keep navigating your way to the center of each of the 4 levels. This video shows how to get to the bottom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfch-FscVxw
After completing the Stronghold, you will be 10,000 GP richer, and will have really cool boots.

Section 11 - Training Pt. 4

Back in the Stronghold of Security, on the second level, with a pack full of food, stay on the left side, and go all the way to the corner to the flesh crawlers. Here, kill these until you are 40 attack and 60 strength, getting food when needed. Once you get 40 attack, buy your Rune Scimitar, and keep training here, throughout your pure career, as it is the best experience for Free-to-Play RuneScape players. For your money making, choose whatever method you like. Whether it be skilling, merchanting, or training and selling drops.

This guide may also be used to train the melee part of a range/2H pure, and below, use the same techniques listed above to train range. (Techniques meaning the money making methods, and where to train to what levels)

If you want to add range to this account for HP levels, or the dragonhide armor, do this:
Buy 2-3k Iron Arrows and all of the FTP bows. Train first at chickens (1-10), cows (10-20), monks (20-35), and flesh crawlers (35-whatever you want).

If you want to add magic to this account for HP levels, or to use magic to PK, do this:
Train your magic to the desired level with any elemental staff, an Amulet of Magic, and Wizard Robes at the Fist of Guthix with the free runes.

If you liked my guide, please post comments, recommendations, etc. You may also request a guide to any skill or pure in RuneScape. Also, if you need help with PKing techniques, please PM me!

Thanks!
