NavyField is a 2D strategy MMO. Room based combat where rooms go upto 64 players in a team based setting. Players are represented by naval ships of different classes(Destroyers, Light Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers etc) and combat is sort of Gunbound, where you line your guns and set an angle to fire at.
You have to keep a crew which specializes in aspects of the ship operations like Repairs, Gunners, Bridge Officer etc. The game is F2P with a premium option for extra EXP and there are premium ships to purchase. The game is totally playable without premium as well.

Rf online has later in game content though it might not really be noob friendly...
----------------------- Ragnarok Online.... one of the most enjoyable times of my gaming career though i played on a *cough* pvp server... it was still insane, it is sorta noob friendly if you really are a noob, but it gets really bad when you become known and hated xD still i made loads of friends -------------------- BTW WTF WAS HoT? I think Rising Force Online should stay on the list. I remember playing it a long time ago and I am currently redownloading it. Still have like 4 hours to go. From what I remember, it wasn't noob friendly I'll give you that, but it is a very good game especially at end game. Great PvP. It doesn't need the community that bad. It helps, but it isn't needed. In fact I'm about to make a thread on the normal Free MMORPG Sub-Forum asking for OnRPG's IGNs on RFO so I have someone to atleast talk to
