Default what makes an mmo storyline worth playing?

what makes an mmorpg story worth playing?

P.S. I keep asking these questions because I want to make an mmorpg Game in the future an I want to how to make it worh playing before I make it.

to be honest, I've always seen the story as having little to no effect on the actual entertainment of the game.
BUT however, it does help to develop things, which can lead to entertainment, provided the developer takes notice of it.


I guess most fun might possibly be history and a future. With a past, it can establish why things are the way they are. Even throw in in legends or myths, players could maybe search these out see if they exist (like a crystal in a hidden cave).
The future, could maybe give players the belief of something is going to happen. Like say a war might occur, alien invasion etc. If this actually occurred as an event later it would tie up well with the story.
Story does not have believable so much, but able to get people to go further into the story, finding out why or how things happened.

somthing like the original use of stone stonehenge or the truth behind king arthur.

stuff like that?
