I think comparing a 3d java game and a 2d browser game is an exercise in futility tbh. Both Eternum and Runescape can easily coexist with one another, anyway.
I do think the jump from browser games being largely text-based to graphically driven is pretty important however. Compare Eternum to a MUD and it comes across as pretty damn impressive, but when you start off by comparing it to a 3d game that runs in an entirely different system you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. |

Seriously, I hope not. The game was originally designed to cater for the oldschool EQ1 crowd (I'm sure anyone who played EQ1 will notice the similarities). But then it started getting publicity and all the RS players seem to be thinking "OMG BROWSER GAME = NEW RUNESCAPE!!!". Suffice to say there is a BIG difference between the EQ playerbase and the RS playerbase, and I have every faith in RS players' abilities in destroying a game's community.

Back when the game was first released, the sense of the community was down right awesome. So many nice players, everyone helping everyone else. Now look where they've gone. The biggest mistake RS made was going from Classic to Runescape 2. Total shit. |
