The Brutal Mafia

The Brutal Mafia was a joint venture between a friend and myself. Since I'm more of a graphics person, I ended up designing all the games items (weapons, armour, medkits etc.) myself, and my friend Dan, decided to take care of other fields in the game, coordinating with the coder/scripter, thinking up game ideas, etc.
The Brutal Mafia features a pretty simple gameplay method. For those of you who are new to this genre of gaming, let me just say it can be pretty damn addictive once you get into it. Competition gets stiff from players all over the world and The Brutal Mafia is going to be no less.

Inside the game

So how does it work? To start with, all you need is a standard web-browser. Yes you can log in from your phone browsers too. You don't need single digit ping connections or any such cause these games don't feature moving graphics, so say goodbye to frame rates, lag, reg and any other errors you see on dynamic games such as CS, Halo etc.
Once you have your web browser and standard internet connection, you sign up on the game site like signing up for an email account with a unique username etc. Once you've done that you can login to your game screen which looks like this



Please note, censored bits are only to hide obscenely large amounts of ingame cash and points as the game is in final stages of beta testing.
On the left hand side you’ll notice the main game menu, your inventory, the city you’re in (Brutalia is a staff only city), your bank, the gym (to train and raise your stats), the crime page where you do crimes depending on your level to gain experience to level up. RPG gamers shouldn’t find the learning curve too hard for this game as its basically the same ideologies text based.
When you click on the city you’ll be introduced to a host of various options shown in the screenie below. While most of the sections are self explanatory, the main points to note are the travel options, the airport and train station. Different cities are available to travel to for the price of a ticket and depending on your level. Various cities are unlocked with increasing player levels.
The sections labelled ‘downtown’ and ‘casino’ are places where members can earn points and or cash daily. This is reset every 24 hours and in typical online MMORPG lingo is called ‘dailies’. In Brutal Mafia, one can grow weed, sell weed, get hookers for daily cash, and other various features which you can explore and find out for yourself.



Attacking, Mugging and Wars
The player list shows the players and whether they are online or not. By clicking on a player’s name, one can go into their profile to access further options such as attack, mug, send message, etc.



By attacking a person and defeating them, you send them to the hospital for a limited period of time and if you lose, you end up getting hospitalized yourself. Successful attacks or mugs gain you levelling exp as well as money.

Gangs can be formed ingame where you can lead or join a gang with your friends to dominate the game, take part in gang wars and a host of other options too!
This short game review was just to introduce you guys to the world of browser based MMORPG’s. If at the end of this, you feel discouraged, I’d suggest you actually try it out and see all the options and gameplay features available and then decide for yourself if you want to continue playing.

is it me? or does this look like other mafia games? they all look the same =/
but the only thing holding me from trying the game is the energy actually... there are only a few games with energy i actually enjoyed.

original graphics, unoriginal script. come up with your own script and i'll play. the graphics are decent though.

To answer most of your flaming other than the comment on graphics, almost all scripts available on the market are similar. GRPG, EZRPG, and MCCODES. And this isn't ripped off, I bought the script legally with a license. As for most mafia games being similar, the only defense I have is that this game is different within with the fact that all cities and weapons are authentic and original. It's not just American cities, but capitals from all around the world. Weapons are authentic and are available in the actual cities they are available today.
Also, about the server being down, If you read my post, I've said it'll be up very soon. We're just working out some last minute bugs before we go live. There are tons of people who want to play mafia games such as these and with The Brutal Mafia being new, it's going to offer everyone the chance to get strong from scratch.

Why the hell does everyone go for the mafia? There's a bajillion different themes out there.

Not everyone has to think like me, but I would hope that not everyone thinks like whoever creates these mafia games either. Apparently, they all thought they could make mafia games better than the hundreds that are already in development.

It's just, that's script been thrown out there too many times over the years, I really respect that you're here to professionally explain about the script most people just stop posting or say "STFU NUBZ" That script has just been around too much, and if you're not going to come up with an original script, you should have used that other one.

we like this one better. if you get that script, and change all the graphics and what not, and add original USA cities, like Oakland and what not. I'm definately in for sure. You have a lot of potential, don't give up.
