have you seen the burst DPS of the druids with the current patch?, topping DPS charts, they are off the hook, the current FOTM indeed, dunno about moonkins, but they were also hitting obnoxiously hard since the beggining of WOTLK

and naw, none of the classes hit significantly harder. the clothies hit harder then the hunter(because of magic ignoring armor)
the difference it's, substained DPS, clothies have better, but who cares about substained DPS in arenas?, any class that can burst will be viable, but the difference is, DK's and paladins have survivability on top of their already bursty damage

well yea but he wants the big numbers.

I get the DK's and paladins are Oped right now, however he's asking about warlocks, mages, and hunters. So that is what i'm answering

There is a difference between something being hard and something being tedious.
Just because it takes longer, doesn't mean it's harder.

From the perspective of someone who STILL doesn't have a guild, and is still occasionally doing Naxx10 when a friend can force me into a guild run, every class is going to seem overpowered, because most people in their ulduar epics will be: unkillable, and be able to easily two-shot you.

From a realistic viewpoint? If you want to do the highest DPS, you'll want rogue, druid, or DK.

If you just want to see giant numbers all the time, then you'll want mage, DK, and probably any other caster.

yeah, but due to the huge imbalance in WoW's pvp, he as glass cannon, will have a horrible, horrible experience

so, if he wants big numbers and at least survive in pvp, it's either playing for years to be the best mage ever, or roll a DK, Ret paladin, Rogue or Druid

Hrm. Interesting. I just like to play a ranged class though, so it's kind of a dilemma.

go hunter then, they are not that squishy, then again you will have to face the "huntard" insults, beastmaster hunters it's pretty good when it comes to survivability, but you'll have to micro-manage pets, marksman it's all about direct dps and kitting, I don't have much experience with survival hunters, but all in all, I recommend a Beastmaster build to level up fast enough then change to marksman and learn how to kite to withstand Dk's and paladins

you couls also go Balance druid, druids have a lot of survivability, ways to get out of snares, healings, balance druids have tons of burst, so if you like seeing big numbers then it's a great spec to use, and if you get bored you could dual-spec Feral and go melee DPS or dual spec resto and heal everywhere, druids are one of the most sought out healers in the entire game

not telling you not to play mage, but they are one of the few classes that need a very experienced players behind then, if you don't mind spending time with the learning curve on such class, then by all means go ahead, they are a blast to play if done well

Hunters are fun, they got a bad rep as beastmaster spec cause all they did was spam a move called steady shot since thier pet did a huge majority of thier damage. You won't get called a "huntard" unless u act like one (rolling on items wich have strength, or having pet pull mobs in instances ect..) As for them being "the easiest class".... well it's not true , if it was every hunter would be pulling thier maximum dps at any giving time.

Also , thier probably one of the hardest classes at high lvl's of pvp. Of course in bg's you can jsut pewpew and lay traps, but in order to be good thiers a lot of crap to watch over.

However, you said u liked pvp so idk if i would recommend a hunter. Out of the 6 arena season that have been so far, i think they've only done good 1 season (season 5 which just passed). Also thier doing lower dps then a couple of hyrbid classes which are suppose to be 5% lower damage then the pure dps classes(hunter, warlocks, rogues, mages)

Out of the three i would recommend warlock, destro hits pretty hard, i've seen 10k+ hits. Also thier the most fun imo

You might want to consider a hybrid class though, as they have ALOT more replay value. Like a paladin for example, you get to 80, gear up as dps and raid as dps , then you get bored. So now you can start gearing up as a healer , or tank.
