When I play MMORPGs, I'm a gigantic PVP whore. I like being a DPS, glass-cannon type character who likes to see big numbers pop up on the screen.
Now I've read up all on the different WoW classes and I think I've narrowed it down to 3
Now, I've googled it a bit and done a lot of research into it, looked at lots of gameplay videos and gotten a good feel for what each class does but I'm still a bit torn and confused. Could one of the more experienced players tell me the pros and cons of these 3 choices, and what their roles would be and what they think would be the best fit for me? Am I way off with my choices? Did I leave out a class? I hate to make a post, but a personalized answer would be great in this instance, I'd appreciate it very much. Thank you.

hunters are classified as the "retards" of WoW because of how easy they are to play.all the hunters end game ive seen do crap for dps so i say no on that (quit mine at 62).
mages i dont know alot about but ive heard/seen them do massive dps and can AoE like no tomorrow.they "see big numbers" like you said you wanna see. warlocks are fine for dps and survivability...but ive been seeing now are also classified as "retards of WoW".DoT spells so you wont see good dps unless your spells last awhile.also some of their pets have nice buffs (imp/felhunter)

I Would go as an arms warrior or a ret pally .. but that's just my opinion
Atm im a lvl 71 Warrior and i stick to an average of 1k-1.5k DPS with quest greens from WOTLK and Ret pallies for their good burst DPS ...

so like an arms warrior is a specialized warrior in the arms skills. Anyways the pros and "cons" Hunters- they do have a bad rep but don't let that get you down. They fight ranged with a bow or gun and have a pet to hold aggro PvE wise. PvP they have many tools to kite(keep melee out of range) melee classes. Their con's are remembering ammunition(which i could see as a problem) and their minimum range. If you get within 5 yards of a hunter they can only use melee weapons, which isn't their forte. So that is a problem. Mages- mages are a fairly straightforward class to understand, but pretty difficult to use correctly(due to their large use of large CoolDowns) PvE wise Mages are great at AoE damage and single target damage. They usually just nuke or AOE PVP wise mages are great because of their quick burst damage. Mages can also conjure healing items(food and water) out of thin air and can teleport to major cities(and teleport others) but you will be bugged about it often. Their con is that they are very squishy and don't take a lot of damage to kill. So you have to make sure you kite well enough. Mana is also an issue. They have a lot of downtime while leveling(sitting and drinking to recover mana) Warlocks- Locks use shadow and fire magic. They use DoT's and can summon deamons. They function sorta like a hybrid between the hunter and the mage, no ammunition, use magic but only 2 types and have pets. They are pretty self sufficent PvE wise and have incredible burst. PvP is really the same thing, they have Fears and Burst. Their downside is that they are quite squishy as well, like the mage. It doesn't take a lot to kill them. They are pretty complicated. Also @lake Yea affli as a raid spec was kinda dumped for destro. Destro does crazy dps.

if you want to survive as a cloth user in arenas then you have to be very, very experienced at kitting, anything that comes close to them it's an assured death
if you want to "faceroll" then go death knights or Ret Paladins, or heck, I think Feral druids are becoming the New flavor of the month with the 3.1 patch |

nah, I mean current 3.1, 3.2 it's still on PTR, Paladins are getting a nerf on their burst damage, so they won't OHK in the first 3 seconds of a match, and DK's are receiving nerfs on their survivability, yeah I know, sucks for DK tanks, something I didn't like from the beginning, but we'll see how it goes
