I'm actually converting to LDS, so funny you bring this up.
I can't help perfectly, but I can probably assist at least a bit.

The faith seems kind of weird, but all the mormons I've ever met seem like nice people, even if some of them will try to push their faith on you.

Want a nutshell of their beliefs, in a completely un-biased and truthful summary?

Mormons believe that a man named Joseph Smith found "golden tablets" in the Americas which he said were the written instructions of God for man. Coincidently, these tablets do not currently reside anywhere, because they were "lost". They believe that Jesus and Satan are actually brothers with God being their father. There was a big dispute in "Heaven" and Satan was cast on to the Earth with a few of the angels.

Mormons believe in a very different afterlife as well. According to their faith once a MAN dies he has the choice to raise himself from his grave and take a wife with him. If his wife was good he will take her with him to another planet in the galaxy and start a new race of human beings there (God was just one of these continued creations). Alternatively, if the wife was bad he can choose to just leave her in the grave.

The mormons are required to wear a special undergarment for certain occassions. Various ceremonies are conducted within the secrecy of their church, ceremonies that are not allowed to be filmed, photographed, or discussed. Once you join their church it is hard to get out.

Interesting fact, originally Black people were not allowed to be Mormon, as they believed Blacks to be lesser creatures than the White humans that were created by God.
the way i look at it is all religions have the same validity and authenticity. The only thing other religions have on LDS is time. A system in affect for thousands of years will have less criticism than something with only a hundred or so. i view all religions on the same level. im just reasearching religions for the sake of knowledge and to find a lifestyle that fits me the best. as for the faith, who knows. SO i was tryin to find someone knowledgeable on it, cuz msot Mormons are not suppose to discuss certain aspects of their life.

With that said Im not sure on the Christianity part or not, they say they are, some say not.

Wow you have a really scary and inaccuarate view of the LDS Church.

I was raised in the church but left around the time I left my parent's house, because I don't believe it's true.

As to whether Mormons are Christians, it's a pretty complex subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormonism_and_Christianity

Nobody really understands LDS people, missionaries are a perfect example, nobody gets the kind of extreme pressure/duress that these poor boys are under to go on missions for 2 years. Half the kids are out just so that their parents won't disown them and their extended family won't constantly gossip in hushed shocked tones about how he must have committed a really SERIOUS sin to be unworthy of a mission. These poor kids are pressured and guilted far beyond what they're ready to handle at such a young age. I'd say more than half aren't there because they're so devout and excited about their religion, but instead are there because of the crazy extreme pressure placed on them by everyone in their entire world that they have to go or else nobody will ever love them again. Girls in Utah won't date you if you aren't a returned missionary, your whole church will gossip about you, friends will distance themselves, and some parents even disown you. Under that kind of pressure, they'd rather just go through the motions than let their entire world collapse.

But they are miserable. Be the one person that day who responds to them warmly and cares if they are hungry or tired or thirsty, even if you aren't interested in the message.

If anybody has questions, I can give a pretty accurate and non-biased view.

I agree with everybody else though, I don't see it as any different from any other religion that I also think is untrue.

cuz people who took part in it is a little more worthy than a internet article. also wanted to see some views on it since most people outside it say its a cult and wrong.

wikipedia.org answers all your questions inregards to anything :P

I'm personally critical of all religions.

I'm fine with people who believe what they do (infact my Girlfriend/Soon to be Fiance is Christian) but if they push it onto me thats where i draw the line.

the only issue i have with any religion is that they have all completely approached it the wrong way, which is why we have all this hate and wars etc.

at the end of the day we don't know which religion is "correct" so we can't really say who is believing what stupid theory.

I would also like to say that people have also interpreted the bible in completely the wrong way.

Its not a book of rules to obey or you will go to hell, its a book of guidelines that helps you become a better person, its not something thats the be all end all, just something that was meant to eliminate war, hate and whatnot.

But due to power everyone has gone about everything completely the wrong way which is why we have so much damn ignorance and hate in the world.

Anyways you can go to http://www.mormon.org/ and have your questions answered, they can chat with you online, you can call them or they'll even drop by your house. *Shrug*
