Mormonism can be a cult if you lock away worshipers in a compound and have sex with young girls. But most Mormons don't do that sort of thing. It's just another way to worship God and you can either take it or leave it. Just because a few nut jobs take it to the extreme doesn't mean they all do. Sadly some people can't grasp this idea.

the same can apply to each and every religion we have.

Sadly in most cases the nut jobs are the powers to be.

It's a belief system that Sout Park explains in my opinion the best of anyone. Yes it is probably the stupidest one that exists, but it helps others.

that's an amusing and interesting read

But while the southpark story isn't 100% correct in terms of every detail

It tells the basic story of what mormans believe(and thats from reading the differences, etc on that site)

As to whether Mormons are Christians, it's a pretty complex subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormonism_and_Christianity

Nobody really understands LDS people, missionaries are a perfect example, nobody gets the kind of extreme pressure/duress that these poor boys are under to go on missions for 2 years. Half the kids are out just so that their parents won't disown them and their extended family won't constantly gossip in hushed shocked tones about how he must have committed a really SERIOUS sin to be unworthy of a mission. These poor kids are pressured and guilted far beyond what they're ready to handle at such a young age. I'd say more than half aren't there because they're so devout and excited about their religion, but instead are there because of the crazy extreme pressure placed on them by everyone in their entire world that they have to go or else nobody will ever love them again. Girls in Utah won't date you if you aren't a returned missionary, your whole church will gossip about you, friends will distance themselves, and some parents even disown you. Under that kind of pressure, they'd rather just go through the motions than let their entire world collapse.

But they are miserable. Be the one person that day who responds to them warmly and cares if they are hungry or tired or thirsty, even if you aren't interested in the message.

If anybody has questions, I can give a pretty accurate and non-biased view.

I agree with everybody else though, I don't see it as any different from any other religion that I also think is untrue.
Actually, no, that's spot on. My Dad is friends with an ex-Mormon who got out of the Church. That's exactly how he explained it. I also studied up on the religion for a project, even going so far as to go to the church and ask for an explanation. They gave me a video.

So then that South Park episode wasn't too far off? Interesting.

In all honesty I have nothing against Mormans at all, but I do find the religion restricting. Than again so is Catholicism (which is why I am no longer anything ). Plus the whole mission thing can really screw up a kids life and I think it's wrong for a parent to force their child to do it simply because it is part of their religion.

I also hate how Mormons excommunicate people with multiple wives, talk about picking and choosing what you want to believe in. I feel as though that's like if I picked up the bible and chose what I wanted to believe in rather than following it like I should. That's what I despise about all religions though, so whatever.

Well read the book of john and ask yourself could this man realy be morman and youll find that hes far from that.
Problem with the morman religion it was made in 1800's way after it was stated in the bible to not add to or take away from wich is exactly what the creator of the morman bible did.
If you realy want to find the right religion find the one that doesnt leave out haveing a personal relationship with jesus.
also if your the conspiracy theory kind might want to check its roll out in the illuminati lol.
