Maple Story did not invent the 2D-Side Scrolling genre. There were many other MMORPGs like it before it too.

Maple Story didn't invent 2D side-scrolling games, obviously. I credit that to games about 20 years ago. However, I would like to hear about these "many other games" that invented 2D sidescrolling MMORPG's because Maple is definitely the biggest and honestly the first I've ever seen (I was around in it's very first beta, havent really played since). And please don't shove anything like "Dragongem technically went into beta in korea a month before it" or whatever nonsense down my throat. Maple Story clearly had the most success from the very start, whatever it did, it actually did it right.

Twas the first in North America. From what I know, Ghost online and Windslayer both came out in Korea before Maple Story even entered beta.

Then why do you care how popular DnF is in other countries?

Because it gives some perspective about how well the game could do in North America. If in a massive pool of korean MMORPG's, that game sits at the top by such a margin, there has to be something going for it.
Like I mentioned, it's like World of Warcraft. People can hate it all they want, but it's at the top of the commercial MMORPG market for a reason. The game is damn good.

I'd have to say DnF. It brings something unique to the table. I played maplestory alot and I really hate it now and I do not want another game that is not a clone but just another game like Maplestory, Latale, Windslayer.
And eww I really hate dragonica. I don't even know why it is just so boring to me. I really like the arcadish DnF looks. Only time will tell though :o |
