There are games were that doen's happen.

For instance, Orion's Belt (www.orionsbelt.eu) you have a private zone were you start with 5 planets that is protected form other players. You then have a public zone were there you have the planets that you can lose and conquer.

The problem is that Orion's Belt is a space game, not a medieval game
