Default Need to know of 3d modeler programs

tell me about your favorites or the experiences with the one you use.

Its bound to be said. Blender.
Free, lots of features, and had a large community to help and support it and the usage of it fro all sorts of applications.

There is also wings3d.
And milkshape 3D.


I've only ever really used gmax and 3dsmax.3dsmax id widely support by many applications and is powerful. Gmax is like it, but free and is geared for game modding. Unfortunately its not overly popular for use in too many games natively, which would be very useful. Some games do support it though.
There's also maya, never used this one either but is in the same league as 3dsmax.
Both 3dsmax and Maya are professional software, costing a fair amount.

3DS MAX Is very costly, as stated before.

I'd also recommened blender, it's more basic but free. There's plently of tutorials to help you get started.
