you don't have to pvp at all in warhammer. i don't see why you would do that though. warhammer's pve is a bit lack luster compared to other games(end game content-wise, but there are TONS of quests to do to 40). most people level purely on rvr and scenarios.

PvP is practically non-existant in LOTRO and even the little "PvP" they have is a big joke. When a game has no PvP, that means that it has no end game. You get to the end, get best equipment, and what do you do then? Stand in starter towns flashing your golden *** that's cowered in yewels? I don't think so.

Get WAR, those who are saying it's PvP/RvR sucked either played it wrong or they don't like 80 vs 50 skirmishes. I sure as hell did.

If your a PvE fanatic, then go for LoTRo.

If you like PvP-ing on a huge scale, then go with Warhammer Online.

Then again both have trials, so you can always try for yourself.

Between the two I would recommend LoTRO at the moment due to the balance issues and lack of information on future fixes from Mythic. They made many broad promises of great support and no major nerfs within Warhammer but lately that is not true. The latest free expansion (land of the dead) has virtually killed RvR on all the servers because the gear from that is better than most the RvR gear. Kinda stupid to introduce major pve content over a improving pvp content on a game that was supposed to be built around RvR. At the current rate of people leaving Warhammer the future of the game is really unclear. Many of my server Dark Crag are leaving for AION in September or going back to WoW. Personally I've been debating about getting AION but have gone back to wow in the meantime .

A joke ? It's basically the same PVP . I played war for 6 months and get bored as hell due to the IWIN combination and the superiority of numbers over personal skills.

Lotro has the same rvr just reduced in a Single map but sharing the same concepts. You take keep, you defend keep, you unlock dungeon entrance .. it's the same and lotro pvp requires a lot more coordination expecially if you monsterplay. Then again lotro has superior graphics but has ironically better performance than WAR in large scale battles that pretend to be their best thing.

I played both for long now and I absolutely prefer LOTRO over basically everything. It's a matter of personal choices.

Then again lotro has sooo much to do ... If someone like the lore, love to RolePlay he can do a hell lot of things in LOTRO aside fighting.

As someone who still plays WAR at level 40, this is wrong. WAR tier 4 pvp is terrible. It's completely unbalanced and Mythic isn't planning on balancing it until the end of the year at the soonest.

Nuff said, this is exactly how you can categorize these two games. Trials are also good on both, I personally enjoyed Warhammer Online more just because there was more stuff to do.

That is not an opt-out, a real opt-out would be the ability to turn on a flag that says to the system that you are not interested in PvP so do not flag you for RvR PvP battles.

Like many said before.

LOTRO - Much PvE, almost no PvP

WAR - Much PvP, almost no PvE
