Marios's Mustache Wax

As a new member, please correct me if I'm wrong or if this is repeated somewhere else.
I have not found any semblance of this idea anywhere on the Internet. It goes as follows: Story In the year 2900, the inhabitants of earth have finally discovered the jump gate. This technology will allow them to go anywhere within the galaxy. With this rapid exploration they meet many new allies, but even more foes. With their new expansion and with many races wanting their destruction, the human race is in a struggle to survive. Fast-forward to the year 3220. The jump network is stretching to almost every point of the galaxy. The humans have managed to not only survive these 220 years but they have thrived. With the help of their ally races they have repelled all the invaders. However these races are not the only ones to have adapted. With each improvement by the humans, the hostile races do the same. Until now. With the most recent prototype weapon, a Mechanized Armor Augmentation (otherwise known as a Mecha for short), the possibilities for situations in combat have grown exponentially. Now we reach the present year of 3500. Mecha technology is abundant and easily available to nearly everyone in the universe. The territory war that started so long ago still continues today. As a (*enter race*) it is your job to finish what your ancestors started, or simply make your way in life. It is your decision. ------------------------------- Gameplay There will be several races to choose from at the start of the game. Each will have certain strengths, ect.. This then will dictate you possibilities for weapons, mechs and ships. Player will start as a basic citizen. From there they can become either a mech pilot, a ship pilot or stay and grow as whatever race you are. Each will have certain perks, such as ships are faster in general, but mechs are more agile. Within ships and mech there will be classes, such as gunship, assault mech. Also the mech will be able to be one of three types, humanoid, bipedal, and quadruped. As a final point for the ship players, as their selection is more limited, the option will be there to pilot a battleship. Weaponry will be able to be fitted to either, except for a few specialty weapons. Fights will be done in a first or third person shooter environment, rather than the traditional rpg menus and such. This allows for people to create their own dodge and accuracy stats, and damage will be assigned to parts, not just the whole. . In town however, you will go to a more point and click the items rpg format(eg. Morrowind), to add to the rpg element. At a later date, possibly add the ability to attack towns. Also it will be possible to completely ignore the alliances and become a pirate, profiting off both sides of the war. I know this would be the biggest part to probably design, aside from the world itself, but this is just what I would like to see it do eventually. Next, the environment. I would like to do three levels of play, town, planet, and space. The town is for obvious reasons, such as supplys and such, and the space aspect adds future possibilities. As for the transport in space, ship class players can provide it, although there will be npcs that will take you, for a price of course. One last element to take care of. This is probably the aspect which would lengthen even more. It is allowing the player to design their own mech/ship off of a frame. The player can buy/earn the frame, but has to get the weapons, armor, and energy supply for it. It allows more customization, and more adaptability for the player. If any of you have any ideas, criticisms, or suggestions I would be open to them. As a reference to how experienced in design I am, I only know some of C++. And yes i know this is time and resource intensive. Last edited by mongonerd; 07-05-2009 at 09:11 PM. Reason: clarification |
