looks like it's back to HK for me. The TW version was buggy. I got disconnected every 10 min, and it seems some other people are having the same problem after the most recent patch.

What patch would that be? Unless there was one today, the only d/c's come from zoa's (rare, unless your system is unstable) Or the "esc bug" which occurs when people spam escape in order to crash their team.
But that bug happens once a day at most, for me.

I just see a message that pops up, usually at the end of games. As soon as I click it the whole game crashes. Another thing is when I try to go into My Room or Shop, I get this weird error that starts off in Chinese then says something along the lines of "Fail Load Reg....". But, I haven't has the ESC bug or a Zoa error.

I re-installed and restarted and it seems to be good. There are a lot of players that have high ranks but stink. I'm struggling to finish Missions as normal. There are people with 3 arrow and * (dont know the names of ranks) that come in last place and I come in first with a C rank...

So how does the lvling/ranking work in this game? Is it by gundam? Or total? Im a little confused. And if i level a gundam do their appearance change?

First; Dot Hack.
It's cause TW players are generally bad, unless you're in the expert server.
(Btw, If you ever see me on, just ask me for help, I'll try to help you).
C ranks are easier to score high with, generally (Especially suits like BaCUE's which should be A-ranks, imo) Cause they give fewer score when they die, and people tend to underestimate them.

Kingassasin:
It's per suit and for your entire account, I'll give examples:
You start with a training zaku or training GM, that has 3 skills (1 special and 2 skills) then 1 to 4 custom ranks after it.

Basically, that means it has 3 lvls (all suits do) + 1-4 levels for the custom ones.
each suit gains exp individually based on usage (when you use it, that suit gains exp)
When a suit levels, it gains it's skills and custom points, the points can be allocated into it's stats.
The appearance doesn't change, but there are stickers and cans of paint that you can use after buying them/getting them from missions.

Lastly; you gain exp on your account aswell.
I made a point about it earlier, I'll dig it up for you.

i've been pressing Q then clicking on the quest i want from the log and hitting the big button on the bottom left then it turns highlighter green but nothing happens why? o.o
