I've played MMOs for many years and been on these forums for quite a few years as well. One thing i can't stand is when people complain about grinding in an MMO instead of looking at the rest of the game. Not saying a lot of people don't actually look at the game it's just that people, no matter what game it is, unless the company gave you 8 pairs of training wheels, will always say "Oh, there's grind in this game", "Too grindy", "I hate grinding". This is really part of the genre of MMOs until there's some kind of sudden breakthrough in gaming, for now though, it's part of the game.
If you really can not stand grind in a game, I'm guessing you aren't actually an MMO type of person if this is something you can't do in every game you play. I know what some of your answers will be already to respond to this already, just a common response procedure that you will say the same thing that quite a few other people will. I'm not going to be a complete *** about this though and just assume that if you can't grind, then you shouldn't play MMOs, there are some/most games that do have they're level of needed work too high for people to actually enjoy the game. Another thing is that I think some players blame grind on the game but it may actually be another reason, the feel of the game, the theme, the fact that you may not have communicated enough with other players and made friends or maybe haven't joined/made a guild. I really just want you to see that grind is part of the MMO genre, again read the ending to the first paragraph. I'm kind of jumpy in my typing, my subjects don't always match up and I'm quite sure there have been posts just like mine, but eh, oh well. I am actually looking forward to seeing the upcoming responses, gotta love seeing someone's reaction to what you say. Last edited by Teddyoso; 07-06-2009 at 01:05 AM. |

I find it stupid when people quickly try to defend a game whenever someone calls it grindy. Instead of asking the person "alright, what didn't you like about it?" it's more of a "OMFG R U STUPID WHAT FKING GRIND THERES LIEK NO GRIND OMG U MUST SUX". If you are gonna bark at someone for saying that the game has a lot of grind, at least present some arguments on why it isn't.

No one disputes that all MMOs have grind. But too much grind is a common failing of many MMOs. In my opinion, when the developer skimps on actual content and just sticks in some more monsters to kill until you reach a constantly rising level cap, it gets grindy.

it's not that i'm against to the TS but, it will bore you if you keep on grinding. a 'less-grinding' game (minimized grinding) will be great. just like what happened to me and my Flyff account. i stopped at level 97 because i got bored on grinding.
people have different tastes depending on the game. let's just try to understand the both sides..

You know what I find utterly stupid?
Your opinions. In theory, you had sex when you were born. Your little penis was in a vagina. Was it not? There you go. My point made. Opinions differ. Grind is a grind when someone says it's difficult. Although it may not be officially a grind until several people agree. |
