graphics. its more simple/neater than 3d games sometimes. 2d games give out a more 'fun' feel for some reason maybe coz its less realistic?

because they make me feel good about myself when i play games in 3d accelerated graphics.

Although this doesn't apply for most 2D games, it does for a few out there... and that is why I like 2D games. The gameplay.

they are called departments. the people that work on art don't work on game mechanics. it can help with the budget(you get what you pay for...), but it doesn't take away time spent on other things.

The only thing 2D means to developers is less time to spend working. Greater game play my ***, look at Maple Story.

It's 2D.

I personally rather play 2D games, because they don't have spent centuries to make their graphics to raffle the gameplay after that (almost all downloadable 3D mmos). 2D games are better based, your point of view is better, which also makes it more fun to play with others and when the graphics are also decent ..... <33333 (Maplestory, latale etc..)

@Chicken; Your just saying that because YOU didn't enjoy the game. The game is one of the best MMORPGs ever. The only con is the grind after level 90 (I mean; go check a pserver and you'll notice that the game is totally awesome).

Nostalgia more than anything. They remind me of SNES.
Some of them have high quality when it comes to animations and what not, like DnF.

There's a variety of different ways to leveling in 2D games, whilst in 3D games it's almost always the same. Plus developers can get plenty of different features which 3D games can't have.

For example; Maple story wasn't so great when it first started it was kill this, kill that, now it has different paths of which one can level.

The downside about 2D games are definitely the community in my opinion. I find alot of immature/anti-newb people.
