Though, I have a few comics, I can't really justify their prices here in Canada. Granted, the art work is splended at times, but does it really merit 40 lines of text? Its faster to get the jist of how skizzo a character is by reading their wiki, so why bother with the paperback if you're not a collector?
I know for a fact that you cannot get everything out of, say, Watchmen just by reading the Wiki.

It's like reading someone blogging about being at Woodstock in vivid detail.

I used to read when I was young.
Marvel and DC mostly. But when the local comic store closed down(Because Im not really in a country where comics are a big thing), I just stopped.
Then came the internet.

It does concern me that people feel the internet means they don't need to read.

Heh
I think they mean that they use the internet to read specific things rather than have hard copys.

Is it bad that I read a whole comic series, like the Ultimate Spiderman (which I love), online?

It might be, because of the simple fact that it could have been changed, because it's on the internet; but other than that, it's no different from reading a hard copy.
