I can only think of little big planet, but that's not an MMO.

BG doesn't mean a literal BAR, he means an MMO that doesn't incorporate any amount of a health limit or hit points.

Not so sure if it's even an MMO, or if it does or not [never played it], but maybe Spore?

Yeah, so far everything listed here either does have a version of a health bar (ie: Halo) or is definately not an MMO (ie: Halo).

Anyways, thanks for your helps. The Ghouls and Ghosts reference is a good one, I'm gonna use that.

The closest thing I can think of is Second Life.
The only places with health points (or any form of health measure) are battle zones, and those aren't used too much.

You're all missing the point.

Stars for health

Hearts for health.

Are all health bars, as in they show you how much longer until you die.

I'm assuming the OP wants to try and make an MMO with no health at all, a game like "without armor, you die instantly." Which, while sounds good on paper, probably won't attract a lot of people.

Nah, you're missing the point.

I'm looking for something with combat, but which uses something else to determine when you die rather than a counter that slowly ticks down to 0 as you take damage.

I just find it pretty ridiculous that my character can be hit in the head with an axe 99 times and be fine, but one more and suddenly he's dead as a doornail.

It's seems to be so ingrained in the RPG genre (as well as many others) that developers don't even think about trying something new. The most you get is 'armour points' which is 'hit points' in all but name. Or things like halo where they make the numbers invisible or regenerative.

Still the writing is pretty much done now. I'll post y'all a link when it's good to go!

Hehe, something like that. but not with the 'die instantly'. There are a lot of different solutions out the if you get creative. It just take some thought. Most developers don't seem to bother. Anyway I don't make games, I just criticise them. I is a writer.
