well, you could do a type of thing that fallout 3 did, where different parts of your body could be crippled, but then again...Health bar =/

Well that at least treats the damage a little more realistically and could be implemented without any numbers at all. Each limb would have either 1 health, or none!

The only thing I can think of is to roll with probability, with the odds of an injury to a particular body part being crippling or fatal increasing with each successive blow

The Hunter Online. You're a hunter, that... Get this... Hunts stuff. You have no hp bar, no stats, just a gun, ammo, and deer.

You talking about a game like that Zelda online with hearts? xD

Obviously MMOs have health bars... how else are you suppose to die?

Plenty of ways. You've just got so used to a health bar that you can't think of life without it.

Would be valid if the deer came and bit you, but there is no health in this game because it's not combat.

APB? Crime-craft? those two games sounds like they won't have HP...

edit: ok maybe crimecraft will have, but i duno about APB.

Is it POSSIBLE to have a combat related MMO without health? I think nothing could happen. You'd hit your opponent and do no damage. They'd hit you, but because there's no hit bar, they do no damage.
Lather, rinse, and repeat.
