I find with F2P MMOs its all about the grind so 2 AoE mages would be better than a priest and tank anyday. But RoM is a good choice to go with as it support co-op and is one of the better quality games out there.

RoM has the best for a f2p game seeing as u have instances/dungeons which require a party

But if u want a good game which is party based.. idk i play p2p games i never rly came across a f2p game with that but.. maybe perfect world? and all f2p games with dungeons.. not quite sure i was into WoW, Lineage, Guild Wars( this is buy to play but WORTH IT) Aion online etc etc

The ''name'' DPS come from the fact we usually refer to assassins and such the the main DPS of the group which is then simply shortened to DPS....

(yeah my english suck)...

Mhhh I suggest Ragnarok Online ! (There's a free server and tons of pservers, so yeah...)

I would have to say go P2P, of course it cost but most games that have a Tank, DPS, DD, Heal, type party system (needs) require cash shop anyway.

An to clear things up.

DD an DPS are 2 different things. DD(Direct Damage) usually refers to a Two Handed Type class/weapon that deals high damage per hit. And DPS(Damage Per Second) witch is how fast you can deal small amounts of damage (Usually in the form of Dual Daggers or Spell Damage) DPS is normaly used for the same thing as to not confuse lowbies, so please stop arguing.

Ya I don't think I have ever heard DD used to describe damage dealer. In fact I have never heard it used maybe more then once or twice. DPS is common knowledge for a gamer. When I first saw this thread I thought it was somehow about Dungeons and Dragons.

On topic: I suggest trying DDO it definately reuires a smart, well led, and skilled group. The best example to this, is one game where I was a bow based ranger in a group with 2 fighters, a cleric, and 2 rogues. We came across some mini boss(I don't remember what it is.) The two fighters and the cleric stood in front of the door and raised their shields up. The two rogues and I shot him with our bows/crossbows for an easy but long kill. He just sat there and threw axes at us, which just got blocked. It was the pwn.

In most games I've played, DPS means any class that deals damage, but I find that misleading. Damage Per Second should mean a class that deals weak damage quickly, like thieves/rogues/archers/ninjas and such.

DD is the same thing, only it's used in fewer games. Yes, I HAVE heard it used in some of the more backwoods games, but it is used.

And, if you want to get technical, there's always spikers, DoTs, AOEs, and DB. DPS is a broad term, DD is specific. Example: Mages often don't deal fast damage, but deal large amounts of damage slowly. Why are they called DPS, then? If you want to go apesh*t about it, then DPS should refer to the overall party makeup and not a particular class.

Anyway...

MMOs where classes need to work together? Rappelz, Requiem, FLYFF (never enough RMs), Rohan, Silkroad (Euro classes), and Perfect World to name a few.
