Alright, i decided to check for myself to see how bad the grind of Maplestory actually is... okay, I am now level 40 after just about a week I have to say everyone is full of BS, has never played... Or played about 2-3 years ago when there wasn't pq's and such.

After getting to 40 i decided to use my knowledge of 1-40 to see how fast i could level a new character (pirate). Okay i leveled from 1-30 within the first day of playing casually so about 4-5 hours. The quests they have now are repeatable and get you at least 25% within a short period of time... I compared Maplestory to the new WonderKing and I have to say the grind of both games are equal if not Maplestory is a bit faster.. Yes the monsters on Maplestory may give .01-.25% per kill, BUT you kill them at such a fast rate it racks up quite quickly... While on WonderKing quests don't give a great amount of experience and you kill monsters MUCH MUCH slower...

I am prepared to get flamed by Maplestory haters that only played through levels 1-20.... YES the grind on Maplestory is insane... AT LEVEL 80+!!!


This is opinion and i decided to post it regardless of the 99% flames I'm going to get.

You don't know the half of it. The grind doesn't even start until 4th job. Nowadays everything is spoonfed up to level 85 (it's possible to get to level 70 in less than a week now <_<), then you have all the good training spots available to you by then; by the time you're 120 your training routine consists of Skeles, Newts, or Himes. The only thing separating you from the regular grind is bosses.

the grind is not bad at all. people who criticize maplestory played like 1-2 years ago and havnt played recently. ive been leveling my hermit at least once a week maybe twice and thats like 1-2 hours a day. and i even made a sideproject lukless cleric whos now 43 in like 4 days.

the best thing to me in this game is buddy chat, i can grind all day and level and just talking to your friends while ur doing it makes it feel like its going by so fast. GREAT GAME, yes its a bit childish and lower level community is full of immature kids. once you get 70+ everyone is chill and great.

except unless you experienced how grindy it was, you can't really comment on people who said its grindy.

also level 30-40 isn't the levels everyone talks about in terms of the grind its as xChrome said the levels of 100+

so i'd suggest actually knowing what your talking about before telling people it isn't as bad as they think it is.

I played MS a year ago and had a lvl 90 Dk, I know all about the grind even so its MUCH MUCH easier now. And if you don't like the grind just slow down on the leveling and enjoy some of the more community based aspects.


If you don't like a childish community get in a good guild and make good friends. Every game i have ever played had some 10 year old running around calling people noobs. It's part of the game, no escaping it so i just make the best of what i got.

Games with real grind is games like Conquer and SRO.

while the level grind may be 'gone" (it will never be gone untill MS gets end game content) the game still has gone downhill.

Its just a boring, bland game. I tried to get back into it, but it is just unimpressive to me now. Especially with all the people that just level by leaching.

This game has gone from too hard in levels below 100 to too easy below 100, and the game is just underwhelming because of how easy it is now.

Wizet had a good idea, but it just got messed up along the way.

why are you talking like you know so much? and ya i have a 108 hermit i know what 100+ grinding is like, and ive been playing for 2 years on/off.

Not even going to bother argueing with Onrpgers, you all stereotype a game cause of what you heard (kids crying about there stories they couldnt level every minute) or what you see (graphics).

if you guys ever spent 2 weeks on a game than playing for a few days quitting and complaining about your experience of getting 10 levels.

whatever im done, some1's probably going to flame this to make themselves feel better and ill probably laugh.
