while i wait for my code I'd like to know things that are on my mind so I dnt go into the game completely blind

how do the races, classes work?
is there a player defined stats system or do all lvl X's have same HP, strength etc.
and is there a spell casting class?
I usually follow that or the "best of all classes" class
anyone got any info regarding these?
