Project name: NORDIC ONLINE Team name: NORDIC DEVELOPMENT TEAM Technology: Realm Crafters Standard/Pro Brief description: Well, Nordic is a dark-realistic, mideval-fantasy, MMORPG/RTS. What makes it great is the innovations, originality, and balance. It really tries too take the focus off questing and more on user generated entertainment, the idea that you can really leave a lasting affect on this world. But it really balances the user affected things and the action. It really doesn't have a main story, yet. But the real world doesn't have just one story. The real world has had wars, events and struggles, and so does the Nordic Realms. The classes are jumbled around,meaning some classes might have powers you wouldn't expect. They are meant too be balanced in PvP, but how you play them can be completely unique. Also the race you choose will also make a large differnce in the game.Each having a certian campaign, or main quest.There are ten races and ten classes in all, but five classes and races are made too be expantions later on. The skill system is very different from all regular MMOs, it is based apon how much you use each skill. So if you use you fire ball alot, it will level up on it's own, giving you greater fireball or level two fireball. You will be given fifty skills in all, eighteen class skill, two race skills and thirty general skills, each maxing at ten. Setting the max level of the game will be 500.(Sounds a little crazy I admit, but.) Innovation and Hooks: Heavy Focus on a Fun Realism:With no minimap, you'll have to use maps of the region, landmarks and a compass too navigate. Own your own Business:Yes, buy a building, were you can change nodes too customize what type of shop it'll be,compete with real people in a player run economy and goverment. Advanced Craft System:Based off a watered down version of runescape's old craft system, almost every item in the game can be player made. The Armor,the weapons, and the food. New 'Styling' Skill:Allowing players too create items with more variation in looks, but for it all too still be player made. Skills System Based on Practice:Yes instead of gaining completely new skills you instead get better at the ones you have.Your abilities will gain strength as you use them. Player Run Goverment and Economy:Yes, you can run for king, manage a town, set taxes. Since players can make almost any item in the game and sell them, the game really relys on the players too be the crafts-men, own stores, set prices and run the shops the way they want too. Interactive Areas and Dungeons:I'm planning on traps and things that can be moved too change combat.Some puzzles that reset every half hour.Things like light fixtures that can be dropped on enemies and doors that can be locked. A Fun and Fluid Comabt-System:It might sound noobish, but I really feel it as a mix between W.o.w.(The way basic, point and click attacking system is) and Diablo(Because of the use of special attacks). But I will make sure everyone will be credited too the fullest, and at completion of the game, each dev will get a full membership, a GM acount and a Moderater status on the forum.The main aim of this game is too make an innovative F2P, fantasy MMORPG, with about 200 loyal players constantly and a constant stream of 50 noob players that come and go. The game will offer a 'membership' that will open up the game in new ways for players, at the cost of a 3-5$ monthly fee. Talent needed: I might be placed as lead for this project, but I'm also concept/2D artist,marketing/organizer, think tank and sound design.(I have a LOT of recording equiptment laying around, from my brother's band.I also play bass guitar and piano.) (0/3)-Organic Modelers-You'll just be doing some modeling and texturing of a few, generic enemies and mabye a race or two. (0/3)-Architechural Modelers-You'll just be modeling and texturing some building models.Basically dungeons, castles and towns. (0/3)-Item Modeler-You will be making small things like swords, and complex thing like armor. (0/3)-(Re)Texturer-Some of the included content models may be used in the project,just retextured.Thats where you come in. (0/2)-2D Artist-I'm already a fairly good 2d artist, but I believe the team might need another.Basically GUI design and some web based things. (1/3)-Area Creator/Designer-A few people will be put in charge of creating the map,being in charge of zones and areas designs (0/2)-Animator-Someone will have too be doing some of the organic animating for some humanoids and some other things might arise. (0/4)-Scripters-This game will be munipulating a lot of RC scripts, this may be the most intensly focused apon this job. I always loved the idea of an MMO, thngs can happen in MMOs that can happen in no other game genre . I have played dozens of MMOs and hundreds of regular games. Over the past few months I've finnally come up with a concept I liked and thought could be done. The one thing about this game is that it is set apon solid MMORPG roots, and will be built up with innovation. ~This is a Bump~
*August 14th* As of now we have completed organizing and are finishing up our plans. The team so far has all the other jobs filled between the five of us full time and our two partime. But we still need some modelers, Organic, Architechural and Organic Modelers. |
