Default X-Shift MMO Seeking Multiple Developers

Team name: Phoenix Concepts, LLC

Project name: X-Shift Online

Brief description:
X-Shift is a cyberpunk/dystopian MMO. It was being developed by our team for about 18 months and, due to personal issues, was shelved late last year. It's now back. We're reworking the engine to use Ardor3D, and we're still using Darkstar for our server. This means a "shardless", single instance world!

In X-Shift, you can become a crime lord, a cop, a corporate CEO, a famous musician, an all-star for the new sport Fuse. Get cybernetic implants! Battle in cyberspace! Write your own programs, genetically engineer your own pets, and TONS more!

Target aim:
Our goal for X-Shift is a commercial project. Immediately, we are working on getting a demo up and running for presentation in order to secure funding and sponsorship.

Compensation:
All work right now is unpaid, volunteer work. However, as our goal suggests, we are planning to establish a physical studio and we will be offering major contributors full time positions with the company once they are available.

Technology:
We are aiming for a cross-platform game (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.) and are therefore using Java. We are using Ardor3D for the client engine, and Darkstar for the server-side. Our modelers use Maya and there is a LOT of Photoshop in use.

Talent needed:
Programmers - We are looking for people with experience in writing Java. We need both server-side and client-side programmers, so any experience in these areas is a big plus.

Modelers - We are also looking for people with experience using Maya. These people will be creating collada format models, including hard surface models (buildings, cars, items, etc) as well as organic models (characters, creatures, etc). The ability to texture your work is also a big plus.

Team structure:
Because we've only recently resurrected this project, we are in the process of regrouping. Our team is small, but growing once again.

Phillip Peterson (me) - Lead Designer (I'm writing the 100+ page design documents) and Graphic Designer (GUI Elements, Icons, etc)

James Brady - Art Director. He has a background in 3d modeling as well as architecture and is designing our massive city. He's been with the project since its early days.

Joost Verdoorn - Organic Modeler. Joost is currently assisting Brady with mapping the city, but will be moving into the organic side of modeling once it is required.

Malachi de Aelfweald - Client-Side Programmer. Malachi has only recently joined the team.

Chris Waymire - Server-Side Programmer. Chris has also only recently joined the team.

It should also be noted that, from our previous team, we also have about 11 hours of music for the game. We won't be needing more right now, but we will eventually need Sound Engineers for other music and effects.

Welcome back! Been quite a while since I last saw you in here!

Nice to see the project still going.

Stuff's looking damn good. Hope you get your programmers; but to be honest, I don't think there are any new programmers who hang around. Still though, one can hope

Thanks for the welcome guys.

The good news, X-Shift is now being fully funded! So, we're looking for some top notch pros that are willing to relocate to central Wisconsin. We are currently staffed for X-Shift, though we will be looking to expand our team over the next year.

Additionally, we're in the process of negotiating funding for a second project (the FPS I mentioned on here once before). For that team will be looking to hire 5 more people (2 programmers, 1 animator and 2 3d modelers).

I'm not expecting the industry pros to really be perusing this site, but I wanted to get the word out, since onrpg is really where my roots are.

Again, thanks guys. I'll try to keep you all posted.
