Default Poks anime recommendations (actiony mostly + small blurbs)

Death note is terrible. Now onto my picks, I'm only going to mention a little about each, if it sounds interesting I'm sure you can wikipedia it:

Baccano!
Mainly about immortals, great series, I can't describe too much more than this without ruining parts of it. One of my absolute favourites. Industrial era.

Blood +
Vampire-esq creatures and a girl who is able to kill them. I had to come back to this one, didn't draw me in right away. Modern Era.

Gantz
People are taken from their everyday lives (kinda) and are forced to hunt 'aliens' with the help of some odd equipment, very little explanation is given to the people when they arrive. Modern Era.

Berserk
A guy with a big sword fights a lot. Feudal era.

Claymore
Special people hunt demons with big swords. Feudal era. Another favourite of mine.

Darker Than Black
Contracters have special powers, but they come with a price. Two sides (mostly) square off. Modern era.

Full Metal Alchemist (1 and 2)
An accident makes two alchemists try and get their original bodies back. I liked the first one a lot, still watching the second one. Industrial era.

Guardian of the Sacred Spirit
A bodyguard takes on her last assignment protecting a quasi-possessed kid in some feudal era.

Scrapped Princess
The princess is going to poison the world, or something along that lines. Some try to kill her, others try to protect her, fedual era - magic + swords kinda.

Hellsing
Vampire kills other vampires, some protestant vs catholic fighting, lots of gunplay. Modern era.

Hell Girl (1 and 2 [and 3?])
Non-actiony, a girl sets up contracts to curse people to hell, but when people curse them they go to hell when they die as well. Mostly modern era.

Kiba
Different magic / sword fighting with giant summoned monsters. Not the best series out there, but was entertaining for the most part. Mostly feudal era.

Utawarerumono
Masked guy with amnesia ends up leading a lot of people in a lot of wars. Fantasty feudal era.

Elfen Lied
Girls with the ability to project invisible hands from themselves tear things to bits. Modern era.

Ghost in the Shell
Robots, bullets, invisible people, you should know what this series is. Future era.

Ayakashi
The first episodes are definately better than the later ones. Some people have demon things that they can summon, using them degrades the person though. Modern era.

Fate/Stay Night
Magicians fight with their familiars to try and win the holy grail. Modern era.

Kekkaishi
Not my favourite series. Two people fight by making boxes around demons at a school thing that radiates some sort of power that makes demons stronger.

Samurai Champloo
Good series. Two samurai team up with a girl to find someone, lots of fighting along the way. Feudal era.

Vampire Hunter: D
Two movies... I think, second one was way better. Half-vampire hunts things, has a screwy possessed hand.

Basilisk
Iga and Koga ninjas fight each other after a truce between them is disolved in order to pick the next heir of some place. Feudal era.

I love your list most of them I also like very much especially Gantz. Finally someone else who thinks Deathnote is a terrible anime.

hmm gantz: people taken away from everyday life?

isnt it like.. people who didnt give crap about others misery or people who comit a crime that die and then are given a second chance to better themself by partipicating in these games to hunt aliens? like if they are on the edge of going to hell or something.

havent watched this one in a while :P maybe ill give it another go.

oo and dont bash mah dn it was really good imo lol

It's pretty much anyone in Gantz. The one original main character was nice and was helping the drunk off the subway tracks when he died and got teleported to the room. And the one time that grandma and her grandson (the little brat) were teleported to the room, the grandma was kind of whipped but didn't seem very coldhearted.

And Death Note was good, in my opinion.

Death note was good until N and Mello show up, then it became ridiculous.

I think Afro samurai is entertaining, short, but entertaining.
