I just clicked it, went there and it gave me a code, then i went to champions website and put the code in and now it lets me download the game, so apparently it works, and there was no need to register or subscribe.

yay for me.

Hurry though it said they are only giving away 1,000 beta keys, and since I took one just now that means there is maybe 999 left, but I'm sure a lot more people have taken some already so, hurry and get yours before they are gone!

Yeh, get your keys while yeh can. Some douche bag is probably hoarding them all to himself so he can charge $1.00 per key.
