I don't know if it's so much elitism as it is people who take games way to seriously. This is why I prefer to solo with little to no help in games. I learned the hard way over time that asking for help is often times a no no. (Google can help but it's not always the best choice. )Don't get me wrong there are nice players that will help but for every on nice there are like 6 @ssholes. MMO's are starting to be less about fun and more about getting the biggest e penis.
As of late I've noticed in pay as well as free games people talk less and like to solo more unless they HAVE to party. Also I love how people down noobs or casual players who actually have lives and get out and don't want to sit in front of their computers for hours on end doing something that if you really look at it is 100% useless. |

yes i do think its a problem.... but its impossible to fix.
and asking game developers to make their games to a specific set of values to help a specific type of gamer is stupid. besides, if you are a casual gamer why the hell would you want to go on raids anyway? i know im not skilled enough to work as an investment banker, the stress alone would kill me, plus im too dumb..... so i dont try to be one. when playing the WoW trial i knew i wasnt a hardcore/pro gamer.... so i stuck to the basic stuff, and nobody yelled at me or called me a noob. stick to what you know and dont get butthurt when someone yells at you. i yell at dumbass noobs all the time in CoD:UO its the only way they learn. |

2) Why is it "stupid" to hope game developers will take the issue seriously? Community management is an important part of running an MMO. You'd be surprised how powerful social engineering can be in shaping your community. Quote:
I don't know for sure, since admittedly, I am a pretty hardcore player. |

lol if you think elitism is bad in mmo's you clearly never played css or cod4 against me
(or with me when we are being dominated by some person who plays it 18 hours a day...they are like machines.....but i still talk shit **** them!)my first part of this post aside fps have a far greater amount of elitism based rage quits and community based problems. or play eve-online very few elitist dicks there actually ever single high level player i've meet (about 2 alliances worth) has been very nice offered help and even gave me in game currency to start things off gave my advice on what skills to train etc, it actually only seems that the only elitist are the trial noobs who for what ever reason think they are e-gods.....but they never make it far in eve. scorpio quit you *****in and play the damn game
