Oh wow if what they said is actually implemented in the game, this could actually be a breakthrough in game industry. Two different games interacting each other to alter the same world hasn't been done before. The idea is totally sweet. This could also bring out a whole new level of gaming.

Haha. . . it is funny how here on Onrpg, those who hardly play eve or ever have, moan about this feature. . . but on the eve offcial forums. . there is so much rage and hate topics to the company that it is starting to get really bloody.
The thing is. People worked hard to keep their status in 0.0 zone (A outlaw solarsystem) and now they have to rely on console players, who might not give a damn, to keep their planets/solarsystem etc. This can lead to alot of abuse by the console players. . for example, one team will not fight, so the other can win, therfore win that planet. The list goes on. It takes a whole sandbox aspect eve provided from the pc players away. Another thing, fps shooters aren't really that great on console. This won't be your next Halo. What rages eve online players the most, is that all the updates and bugs, all the promise of a walking in station feature has been pushed back for literally YEARS and now we know why. For something the pc eve online communited can't have a real part of. >.< . . . Hey, it might work out. . .I can't predict the future.

@Nante Yeah, they might plan this for pc in the future, but if you read the interview, they said they want to focus on making it a "top console shooter"

I can understand what they are going for with the separation of the pilots and infantry (different mindsets play PC and console), but I think it could work better if it was both on PC or even allow for a pilot act as infantry or switch to an alter ego in the infantry.
EVE attracts a very business like player base and they have been trying to attract more twitch based gamers for awhile now and this is clearly another move to do. Still too early to from a solid opinion on how this move will work form them but all I can say is that it is exciting. |
