But yes. Sony has finally revealed it's redesigned PlayStation 3 console. It uses 34% less power and takes up 32% less space, comes with a 120GB hard drive and retails for $300 (£249). Coming to your local video game outlet September 1st.

kinda looks like one of those cheapo handhelds, the ones with a crummy LCD in it, kinda tacky.

Sony still thinks people will pay for the ps3 if its slimmed down and go down on cost...

Well im sorry but 300 dollars is still alot of money.

They be blind to the recession...Hopefully sony soon will die....

i wonder what they took out, like the size of the fan and stuff, USB, wireless? and all that other stuff to lower the price like that to make a profit, they had to get rid of something. Or this would just be another flop.

It isn't backwards compatible with PlayStation 2 games, and the option to install another operating system (or whatever they used to get Linux on the thing) has been removed.

$300 was the cost of a 360.

They are now $200-250 rivaling the price of the Wii.

Stop being picky about prices. If you can't afford it, don't get mad at it.

Taking those out would allow them to lower the price that much? And most ps3s didnt have backwards capability nowadays. I dont even know who uses the OS thing so w/e. Im still happy with my premium limited ed ps3

Well 1, when they slimmed down the ps2 sales went up, and the slimmed ps2 cost almost the same as the original which was around 200.

Also sony makes money from more then just the ps3 and such
