Alright, so I am going to get a 360 (yay $100 price drop on the elite). Anyways, I'm trying to get the most entertainment I can, while going cheap on it. So, here for recommendations on games. Right now here is the list of things I wish to purchase, but may or may not remove some items due to either not caring to spend money or waiting for price cuts (because everytime I've bought an expensive game and see it get cut down 10-20 dollars over the next month pisses me off... I'm looking at you, Devil May Cry and FF12.)
20 - orange box 40 - halo 3 60 - fallout 3 40 - Bioshock/Oblivion bundle 20 - Mass Effect 15 - crackdown 40 - Grand Theft Auto 4 300 - 360 Elite 30 - Wired Controller 18 - Play n Charge (black) 25 - Intec Glo Stand w/fan 60 - Xbox Live 12 Month Gold Chat Pack w/ PGR4 As you can see, I do wish to have as many multiplayer options available as possible. As of right now, I believe I will cut out Fallout 3 to wait for a price cut (still 60 bucks? lolno.) as well as Grand Theft Auto 4 (because honestly sandbox does get pretty old after a while, and crackdown is cheap while offering similar gameplay, so meh.. maybe when it hits lower pricing). As for accessories, you can see, I chose the Gold bundle for online play. It comes with the messenger kit (messenger pad, extra headset, etc) along with PGR4. Not bad for only 10 bucks more than the normal card. Also, a wired controller. As for the wired controller, can you hook a headset up to it? Not completely sure on all the options for most of this stuff, because Microsoft is a whore when it comes to charging more to get basic things. If it can't hook up, I can just change that wired to a wireless for a few bucks more, so meh.. no big deal. I don't believe the 360 Elite package comes with a charger for the wireless controller that ships with it, hence the play n charge (correct me if I'm wrong). Speaking of online play, another thing. Can I borrow someone elses game and play it online on my account (yes stupid question probably, but just making sure. Don't want some "game ID" or something being registered on someone elses account so I can't use it) as well unlock achievements. If so, that knocks out Halo 3 and Mass Effect (can just borrow from a friend that has them collecting dust next to his RROD'd xbox). Alright, last question, unless I missed something. Do I REALLY need a fan? I understand that RROD is probably caused by overheating, so will the $25 be a good investment, or is it a useless accessory that they make you think you need for security. Based on the judgements above, along with dropping the pricier gaming tags and borrowing friends games, the total will cost $508 (includes the fan, just in case). Anyways, any recommended games? For future reference, a friend has Rock Band 2 that I have access to anytime I feel like playing (wouldn't drop that much money on the crap anyways.. only like 5 of the songs or so on it so meh) as well as Prototype. I didn't like Assassin's Creed, nor Resident Evil 5 (mainly because of the controls on that one.. annoyed the living hell out of me). Oh, and there is a 70% chance that I will get Modern Warfare 2 when it comes out. Game looks BAMF. Probably wait for a friend to get it to try it first, though. Edit: In before "wall of text". Edit 2: Oh, can I just use an ethernet cord from my old modem to connect to the internet, or do I need some special crap in order to connect. |

In my opinion they're well worth the cost. It's been almost a year since I bought most of them and I still play regularly. Try the Lost Planet/DMC4/Dead Rising package that's supposed to be coming out soon, if you want more for your money. Edit: Yeah, you'll be able to play other peoples' games with your own gamertag. Anyways, do you know anymore about this deal? I haven't seen that anywhere, and although I doubt I'd really get it (friend has DMC4, though I haven't bothered with it.. lost interest in the series after the first game), and I have Lost Planet: somethin or somethin (can't remember x.x ) on the PC, but Dead Rising peaked my interest. I've never seen that before, so looked it up on youtube and looks like a blast. Personal experience, or something you've heard? I've looked around and have only seen good reviews on performance. Not my taste, honestly. Gears of War 1 gave me a headache after playing for just an hour. Last edited by Elegy; 09-04-2009 at 07:42 AM. Reason: -=Doublepost=- |
