i read up a bit on it and it seems you cant remove DX 10 properly unless you do a format, using third party software to remove this can have some nasty side effects like you probably have now.. btw DirectX 10 also includes 9 and all previous versions, so you should look for a way to run games in dx9.0c mode instead of removing 10.
