Ok so both my CD and Dvd drives aren't reading any cd's or Dvd's I put in them.

I check my Device Manager and the little yellow sign comes up so i try updating both multiple times. I restarted tried it again and shut down my comp and tried it again but it still doesn't work.

My CD drive is SamSung CD-Rom SC-148A
and my Dvd drive is Sony dvd RW DW-D22A

Probably from a dead laser. Go get a new one to see if it's your drives or your computer.

If it is both the cd and dvd not working, it might be the ribbon that connects them inside the computer that might need to be replaced.

Is there a way i know if a laser is dead or not?

I might be dead since don't hear the cds spin in the drives

Like bobby said, you can replace the cables. If it doesn't work, then it's a dead laser lens.
