Pretty much what came to my mind when I read that.

For every neat gadget Japan develop, several of these "What the ----" device comes out the woodwork.

Even if the intention isn't to 'promote' social isolation, it definitely seems like it could only worsen the situation for some.

No matter how lonely someone feels, getting yourself a fake friend is weird.
When I feel lonely I go on omegle or something and get to know new people, I'd never buy this crap.
