Expensive to handle?
They didn't require a large tank, or even a filter.
The only thing I hated was that the males were the ones that looked colorful, but you couldn't have more than 1 or they would fight to death.

Just be sure to get the correct size of filter for your tank and not one that is too powerful. If you get an oversized filter system, your tank can become too clean for the algae eater.

filter that thing i used to have two big tanks with tropical fish in them

@ petsmart they were 6 $ and had to have all this different stuff to keep it "well" and im terrified that if i dont do something right i'll kill it D:

plus all the stuff i did get cost 50$ all together :/

the filter came with the tank and i got the fish some algae chips or w/e.

Yes, the filter filters the water, not algae.
