First off, I might sound harsh but I sincerely hope this comment can be helpful to you.
Sometimes overexposure could be pulled off only when you still create a focal point or a flow of direction or some sort. With the brightness, much of the focus is drawn away and leading to nowhere. You can have a bright light source, but when it occupies more than 50% of the canvas then it's more of an negative effect. The diagonal lines going through the background is an old novice sig effect and in order for you to move up to the next sigs and continue creating better sigs, you need to try to avoid overdoing something or following online tutorials. Of course, I'm only assuming you're following them, but my point is valid. Use them as a guide only. You duplicated the render layer and pasted it on the bottom right corner. This doesn't fit with anything and seems out of place. Instead, you could possibly put it behind your render, move it slightly to the right so it creates somewhat of a blending effect (if you don't understand this, I suppose it's sort of hard to explain). I'm alright with the text, no one have to use the simple word fonts (but sometimes simplicity is the best). However, its the issue of a flow. Along with the brightness, it's another thing that attracts the viewers attention not only because it's large, but also there is some flow to it, ie the thick white lines that is matching with the text. Instead, you could try incorporating it with the render more effectively or just a smaller size that isn't creating a flow or focus that is drawing attention away from your render (which I assume is your main thing). Hope I helped, just need to keep practicing and develop your own style.

the lighting is excessive and takes alot away from the sig(as previously pointed out)
The best to expand your skills is step away from a style your used to and try something completely different and bizarre. a great way to get ideas and inspiration is browsing http://deviantart.com they also offer a huge selection of brushes and effects
