I used Xubuntu, which is basically Ubuntu, but for lower end computers. All I have to say is that it was a headache to get Steam running and getting Nvidia drivers to get set up. I can't say anything else, since the hard drive I had it on burnt out the same day.

dont feel like buying new window disc and virus scanner program for it. my gamming computer is my desktop computer. just want to see if Ubuntu good for linux OS for outdate laptop

I remember there being a simplified version of Ubuntu for newbs. Can't remember which version though.
