Default Microtransaction Cash Shops - Rip Offs and Fair Deals?

There are a lot of games out there now that have microtransaction options or cash shops. Some are rip offs, others are not. Which ones do you think are good and bad?

2 Moons - I felt this was hit or miss. Most of the fun options were fair (pets, costumes, etc.). The virtual necessity of enhancements for enchanting weapons/armor seemed a bit much, especially since you could spend money on them and they could still fail.

Runes of Magic - Again, hit or miss. Most of the costs seemed fine. Armor dye costs were weirdly high. In fact, I think they'd make more money off armor dye if they lowered the price and as a result people would use a lot more of it. They also have a gear enhancement system that necessitates buying cash shop items that still can fail. Not bad overall, and the game is free otherwise so I had a good impression of it.

Champions Online - I still don't understand why a subscription based game thinks it should have a cash shop. Here's a review of the Champions Online C-Store. Basically, the important stuff is way too expensive when combined with a subscription. They need to either cut these costs massively or drop the subscription.

For Champions, I have 2 views.

The positive: Being its just cosmetic stuff, its only right and normal for players to pay more if they want to look different. Do note that the monthly subs are used to cover the costs of high quality customer service, ingame or offline events and quality updates/patches/expansions.

The negative: The costumes can be covered by the subs, making them hard-to-get via quests and requiring more strategies etc. Like most people will agree, being a P2P, players shouldn't be forking out more for extra stuff.

Bad news too, it seems like Star Wars: The Old Republic will be following the P2P + Cosmetic Cash Shop, like Champions. While I agree that processes like server migration should cost a fee, character alteration (looks etc) should be included in a P2P game without having to pay extra.

F2P games, I don't mind what the Cash SHop has as your not paying anything so you can't really complain.
But with Champions it's really bad, if you are paying £10 a month + the box price you should have access to all the content even if it is just new costumes. Champions was a huge disappointment anyway and I kinda hope they will fail just because then other companies can realise the 'greedy' system doesn't work.

Problem is, its not just cosmetic stuff. A respec costs $12.50.

And as you mention, if you are already paying $15 a month, costumes and such should be part of the subscription.
