Default the reason why our computer get slower everytime

One of the most frustrating things in life is a slow computer.

Every few years, we buy an expensive new PC and love how fast it starts up, runs programs, and loads web sites. Inevitably, though it starts to slow down, until eventually we are pulling our hair out waiting for it to do routine tasks.

Why is this? It turns out the answer is actually quite simple and you don't even need to be "technical" to understand the causes and solutions.

The good news, it's not the computer hardware that's the problem. In most cases the hardware you have is perfectly capable of being restored to its original glory and kept in fast running condition with minimal effort.

Rather, the problem lies with changes that occur to the PC's software. The 2 most common causes of slowdown (along with easy solutions) are:

Registry errors - the most common problem

Every time you (or your kids) load a program, game or file, your PC's software registery is updated with new instructions needed to operate that item. However, when the item is removed, these instructions usually remain on your PC. Every time you run your computer it tries to execute these instructions but, because the related program can't be found, it causes a registry error. Your PC is doing a lot more work than it should be and the result is a significantly slower computer.

man no wonder my 2 montsh year old computer seem slower evertine RAWR

I do a complete wipe and recovery every six months. My PC is always running pretty well.

Its only common sense that an OS has a half life. They all have...its just a matter of sitting down and redoing your stuff.

I call this bullshit.
It may perform alot more work, but it won't nearly take as much CPU cycles/RAM then the background applications you are running, which weren't there when you first booted your pc.
Decent applications remove their keys upon uninstallation and alot of those applications even work WITHOUT registry keys.

Kill most of your background applications and edit your msconfig file so you only boot what's really needed and you'll notice your system is ALOT faster, depending on the amount of background apps.

What Oister is saying is, he reformats his pc every 6 months. Everything gone on the drive you format, which pretty much makes the state of your pc as it's new.

Well, you'll have to format your drive and reinstall windows. Its a process, and can take an hour or more. I usually do it on a rainy Sunday when theres nothing else to do.

I looked for a guide and couldn't find a good one. Just wait for someone else to pop in with their knowledge. I've done it a bazillion times, but its quite a bit to type up.

TuneUp Utilities is the best computer maintenance package out there, in my experience. All of the tools are useful really improve the performance of your computer. Try the free trial, it's fully functional and you only really need to use it once.

End of plug.
