This is really not going to sell me just one of your CD's.

Come one and manage to convince me to give you money for something or **** off, lol.

Just being pissed at having to actually deal with this is not making you successful.
Dealing with it would be a different point.

Making an idiot out of yourself, by letting yourself getting ripped off in the process and your fans too: Go ahead, but don't expect sympathies.

~+~

If you had talent in the direction of dealing with money (which you might still have, just unexplored), you would very well be aware of the fact, that people like me are the majority of your customers.

You need to win me over, not threaten me to go to trial with me because of some arguably "god-given" property rights to some piece of music.

If you give that principle up, you will probably stop crying about how much money you supposedly "deserve", but will never ever possibly see at all in this world of ours...

If you were that reasonable you could actually still get some bit richer than a Wallmart cashier.
Not very likely richer than some select foot-ballplayers or CEOs , etc. it seems, but hey, real talent will pay off and everything else isn't going to whatever happens down the road.
If you make it work that is.
Make it work.
Not **** it up.

The plan about ****ing your customers up, is just topping it of. (Yea, money will be generated when I listen to music, if I take part in that or not is irrelevant. However that select people that I might choose to actively support are not those that creep around on my front lawn with clubs in their hands.)
Lol thanks for realizing I was joking and not taking it personally dude. :P

the music industry is so corrupt these days. everyone is just in it for the money... and the contracts are horrible. if you ever get the time, read through the American Idol contracts. it pretty much states that them label owns you.

the good thing is that a lot of these contracts, you can easily get out of.

Don't judge the entirity of recording contracts by a TV show designed to rob people of their money and people of their rights as artists (Not that they're artists at all).

American Idol's sole purpose is to manufacture puppeted acts, simply to rob people of their money. They whole POINT is that these people want fame enough that they'll accept being puppets.

It's not the way the industry works in general. Radiohead prove that if the label knows you'll shift units, they'll let you do what you want.

Well, I know people who are thinking about it that way you put it.

Still they pirate the shit out of DVDs and games...

There is no limit to what goes on in peoples minds and them making it work out for themselves somehow.

Also:
I bought a Marshall amp. I account that as taking part in sponsoring ten times more bands equipment than I actually enjoy.
I could make a somewhat long list of stuff I have lying around somewhere that I really payed for, but I prefer not having to calculate some sort of "ethical" balance.

Why should I have to care about that.

Because it's good to pay people for their work.

I don't see why it's massively debated.

necessity vs. want..if your work isnt a necessity(a luxury) you chance being ripped off thrice fold(or more). its a unstable business... but i agree its 'nice' to pay for the stuff when people put work into it, but people are gonna buy needs before wants, and get wants free if they can.

I was only using the American Idol contract as an example of the corruption in the music industry. And a lot of recording companies are beginning to do the same as far as creating puppets.

MetalSucks = Win.
Lots of independent labels now because some contracts are full of shit, which I think is good in a way.

Doesn't Wintersun produce their own albums? Or are they on Nuclear Blast?
