So just yesterday I started watching Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and so far I'm on episode 10, and I got to say that this series is really interesting and good.
I'm a lil bit confused though, is the show basically a series of different stories but all with the same background or something?

When I saw the end of the first story where Kei-chan claws at his own throat in the booth I was like holy shit!! But then the next episode everything changed and he was alive and everything was completely normal and everyone was acting differently and stuff like that

. So if anyone could give me some insight that would be nice =).

What it is actually a series of stories that don't have a definite ending.
Then later in the second of the series they conclude them in no necessary order.

Only the first story doesnt stay faithful to how it finished off.

SPOILERS!!!

Kei is actually alive when they conclude that one.
