Default Need help deciding between consoles

Hey, so my b-day recently passed and i have the option of getting either a xbox360 or a ps3. The problem is im not sure which one is better to get and could really use some help deciding.

So for the Xbox 360 i have:

Pros:
larger variety of games
Im a RPG fan and 360 has about twice as many as ps3
They only sell pirated games in my country
$100 cheaper than ps3

Cons:
RROD
There is a lot of dust in my country which can affect the ventilation
causing over heating
The warranty is void if i were to get it chipped

For the PS3:

Pros:
A very low chance of messing up if any at all
Warranty
Durability

Cons:
Games would be a lot more costly lol
Games are not always available here but theres ebay for that :P

The number one issue for me is durability and a good number of games to play. Not a huge fps person and 360 really seems to depend on them. But overall im not sure at all for which to get and would like some help

Thanks

EDIT: i dont mean to start a console war i just want to know what would be better for someone like me. I.E. getting the 360 without the HD just cause i wanna do pure gaming. But would that limit me from download content for say fallout 3? etc :P

Truthfully. The PS3 is alot more powerful then the Xbox360.
The Xbox360 is clearly more popular, but the Ps3 sold the most in September, only losing to the DSi (WTF?!) With Xbox360 in 3rd or 4th, I can't remember which.
Xbox360 has a wider variety of games at the moment. Quite honestly, the "Exclusives" for Xbox360 though are a bit...okay. I love Gears of War I/II and I think Lost Odyssey is a really well done RPG. I don't really like Halo, so that is just an opinion. As for Ps3, we get MGS4 and I guess an extremely hard RPG: Demon Souls.. We get some others, but I can't really remember.

Final Word: Despite the Ps3's horrible start, its coming back. The XBox360 though has already a wide variety of games, and I think the games themselves are cheaper. The PS3 in my opinion is stronger, since Xbox360 has that red ring of lolfailIhatemylifedeath.

Here is a link for both of the systems exclusives.

its better to go with the PS3 for the durability. after all, a large variety of games would be useless if the console itself bugs down often.

You should get the system based on the games you actually want if your sole purpose is gaming. PS3 has been getting more RPG's and will soon have more (I'm looking forward to Resonance of Fate, Enslaved and Castlevania myself).

Believe it or not, DS/DSi has a lot of RPG's and good ones at that. A lot of upcoming ones too (Golden Sun, Phantasy Star, Rune Factory 3). If you are thinking about a handheld then I'd say DS/DSi all the way especially for RPGs.

it depends on what kind of games you play

for example if you are an fps fan , then you could consider xbox 360

but if you are an jrpg fan, ps3 has some couple of good jrpgs

if you want to online, both of them have good online services and downloads
