I'm not so sure of that actually. The Final Fantasy name definitely carries weight, so a lot of people will likely at least try both (I admit that I certainly will). However, the fact that FF12 got some pretty mixed reactions and that FF14 looks like it may be leaning more towards WoW than towards FF11 and I think there is at least a chance that immigrants from FF11 and the Final Fantasy fanbase in general may be disappointed and scatter to other stuff.

what is the whole theory behind taking 3-4 year old korean mmo's that failed and/or got abandoned, and trying to milk a cash shop outta the deal?
don't get me wrong, i love to smoke a little stash to my head and trip out on some kung-fu style shit, but lol i just dont get it... do the southeast asian's have any hardcore p2p games? or do they just love the whole cash shop idea? either way something must be working..i usually don't mind most of these games...get a month or two of enjoyment outta the deal..i just hate it when the translation and the fonts suck, can ruin a whole game... |

Like the many upcoming games, be it Korean or Chinese, examples being LOCO, Another Day, TERA, Project S, Project 9, Loong Online and this plus a few more, translation time has been cut from years till almost a year. Taking 3-4 year old games and translating them is now only for smaller MMO companies. Bigwigs like gPotato, Perfect World Entertainment and most probably Ijji next year are going to publish games almost within the same time period of their Asian counterpart. Even newer companies are doing the same, like Gamigo with Project S. |

From what I dug up this is not going to use the "generic" mmo formula everyone is thinking. The game is an action MMORPG and will have combat similar to that of Dynasty Warriors.
Will they deliver though? eh... hard to tell until it comes out right. xP And the Korean closed beta is supposed to start later this year. |

In reality, all games are nearly repetitive. In an RPG what do you do? Figure out the story, fight monsters, kill boss, deep dungeon, solve puzzle. In an MMO what do you do? Kill monsters, do quests, kill boss, get new gear. In an FPS..you shoot things. Repetition is everywhere in video games.
