well, when my school ends at the end of the year (finally), my dad's finally giving me access to my savings, and i intend to use some of it to buy myself a new laptop/netbook/notebook. Im looking for something thats small, and can still play games decently. which is why im currently eyeing the hp pavillion dv2. any other suggestions? budget wise, im looking for something in the price range of the dv2. the dv2 costs 1k in singapore, and the exchange rate is US$1=S$1.5, and 1pound= S$2

pros and cons of your suggestions are welcome. basically i want something that can run at least l4d on low settings. and the dv2, fyi, can run l4d on medium settings. thats awesome.

Can you give a direct link? Or a site that lists your computer's specs? HP have LOTS of dv2 series laptop.

Checked it up, and it says your graphics card can handle L4D at low with a few mids, depending on your resolution, but your CPU heavily handicaps it. L4D, like all Valve games are more CPU dependent than GPU.

Performance wise, no. Mobility wise, I guess.
If you're looking for a little more performance, but willing to carry something heavier, get this:

Same price but with a 16" screen, dual core and a 4200, which should be better than the 3410 the other one had. My brother has this laptop, but with a different GPU, and I say it runs fairly hot and a little on the heavier side, but it's doable.

i balked at the dv6z. way too big. lol. im in it for the portability. I currently have a laptop approximately the same size and weight as the dv6z, and i cant stand carrying it around. I have a desktop, so serious gaming and stuff will be done on it. It just that i want something portable that i can take with me to uni (when i get into uni), and that i can just pay l4d with my mates on garena with. Im not much of a gfx whore, so, low setting is pretty enough for me.

Change the CPU to the T4300, RAM to 3GB(3GB is a good bang for the buck), GPU to 4330, and batteries to 6 cell. You can also change the OS to W7 if you want. Not sure if Dell ships to Singapore though.
Edit: It weighs 5.6Lb, or 2.7kg.

dell though. I've had horrible experiences with dell. My last dell caught fire. as in, literally caught fire.

Well, every company will eventually give off a bad part. Maybe you just got unlucky, I mean I don't think Dell can be placed as the 2nd highest grossing OEM manufacturer with a bunch of PCs catching on fire..
