Default New Monitor

As I'm strapped for time I'm asking here instead of doing my own research as normal.
  1. $160 - $200 budget, I hope.
  2. Larger than a 17" as that's what I'm currently using which will be going to another work station.
  3. HDMI support isn't a factor.
  4. Will be used a lot for gaming, watching movies, and some web development.
  5. Resolution has to be equal to or greater than 1280x1024
  6. Currently using an Acer 17" LCD Monitor.
  7. Not much preference on manufacturer as long as its a reliable and long lasting monitor.

Any suggestions I appreciate.

So you want it with a 4 or 5:4 resolution ratio?

19" 4: 3 monitor.

It breaks your budget by $20, but it's a 23" widescreen with the highest 16:9 resolution for a single monitor there is. No, 16:9 is not the same as 4: 3.

Looks like I won't be getting a higher resolution without having a widescreen monitor eh? I appreciate the suggestions guys, I will be weighing my options by the end of the week.

$20 bucks extra shouldn't be much of an issue, thanks.

Default Its a dominos effect.....

So I went with the ASUS monitor that GooLooGooLoo suggested. So far, really great screen!

One draw back, I didn't realize how old my machine has gotten. OLD!

So, I ask again for some suggestions to the build that I have setup in relatively short time.

Current getup:
OS: XP Pro SP3
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3GHz
Motherboard chipset: Intel Canterwood i875P/E7210
Memory: 2GB PC2700 DDR SDRAM
GFX Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP 256MB
Audio: Razer Barracuda AC-1 Gaming Audio Card
Power: Antec 500W
Hard Drive 0: 40GB IDE
Hard Drive 1: 120GB IDE
Standard Keyboard and a Razor Mouse

Pah I know... rediculous.

Here is what I have lined up:
Case: Thermaltake V9 Steel ATX Mid Tower
Hard Drive: WD 640GB 7200 SATA
Motherboard: GIGABYTE ATX AMD
Video Card: SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0x16 (phew...)
Power Supply: Broadway Com Corp 650W
Memory: G.SKILL 4GB (2x2GB.)
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 7850 2.8GHz
Total Cost: $715.37

Won't be buying any new peripherals as I can hook up my CD/DVD-ROMs and my system hard drive up to the IDE slot and go from there. Stickin it out with XP until I can test more with Windows 7 at our FD PC :P

Trying to setup a low-medium or medium-low high gaming machine. Not interested in SLI'ing the video cards or all the HDMI to TV blah blah... you get the picture. I will be taking a little more time setting this up (and getting the funds) so feel free to state your opinion.

Any ideas/suggestions like last time, are greatly appreciated. Cheers!

This is $25 more then your current build. But the specs are much better, + free shipping compared to your current build. The XFX brand video card also offers double warranty.

Any games in particular? Also, motherboards now only offer 1 IDE slot, so if your DVD drive is IDE, either stick with that and get a SATA HDD or throw it away for a new SATA drive. I'd personally choose the new HDD since it runs MUCH, MUCH better.
