i think this thread illustrates perfectly the innate faults in the average american psyche

if we followed this thought through to its conclusion then you would have a country where everyone is walking around armed to the teeth.

if somebody cut a load fart on the bus youd have a bloodbath.

your reasoning is ridiculous and i agree with what norrin has been saying.

You can think I'm ridiculous if you want, but I will happily accept lower violent crime rate and a significantly lower chance of having my home invaded if the main drawback is some guy on the internet halfway across the world thinking bad of me.

the main drawback of your idea isnt my rage, its getting dead when you go out shopping.

i find it hilarious that some people are conditioned to the extent that they defend they very parts of their society which produce the most problems. well, i would find it hilarious if people werent actually getting killed.

That's just not how it works though, law abiding citizens aren't going to just decide to kill someone for mouthing off because they are allowed to carry a weapon, South Dakota for example has the highest per capita rate of concealed weapon license holders and it also has the lowest rate of violent crime.

Statistically the U.S. is a much safer place to be, and crime in the U.K. has only gotten worse in the years following this handgun ban.

Those are general crime statistics, where does it say on that article that all those crimes were involved with a firearm?

Do you need a gun to commit robbery? No.
Do you need a gun to steal a car? No.
Do you need a gun to perform a violent crime? No.

But once you involve guns with those crimes, the chance of someone being injured or killed increases exponentially.


Anyways... This whole thug mentality is pretty stupid. I actually had a 40 year old 'gangster' want to fight me recently, because I called him out for cutting in front of me in line, at a drug store.

We live in a society that glorifies the "gangster" lifestyle. What else can you expect? My only hope is that these morons kill themselves off before they can procreate.

you think that south dakota has a low crime rate because of the amount of guns owned by citizens? what about the state of the economy, level of education and religion or ethnic makeup of the state? THOSE are the things that probably give it a low level of crime, not weapons.

also i dont know why you keep going on about handgun bans in the UK.

the level of violent crime in the UK has decreased over the last ten years.

the only reason there seems to be a higher rate of knife crime/violent assaults in large cities is due to a number of factors including: massive increase of immigrants since 1997's labour landslide victory, impact of the current recession of which britain is still stuck in, wider availability of alcohol leading to britain being the worst country in europe for alcohol related problems and finally the social tensions which spring from all of these problems leading to more kids deciding to be morons and break the law.

the handgun ban has nothing to do with any of this, so i dont know why you are getting fixated on it.
