He is actually wrong about pure grinding still, latale grinding is always faster than MS grind by a noticeable difference (when we talk about time) many people have tried and tested it on many levels ~
It may seem like it but if you went and tested it you can easily compare it for yourself.
Anyway I know at the start of the game and in the lower levels you might think
"Oh this quest gives me x exp I could get that faster by just grinding blah blah blah"
The quest exp may seem horrid and I agree off the bat the quests aren't amazingly good in reward but they are decent. The quests you unlock as you level are a sort of guide, the monsters you must hunt for these quests are usually monsters you would grind on anyway so just pick-up the quests and do them as you grind and travel. You also need the money from quests since you could struggle keeping updated with weapons/armour/potions without ely from quests.
As you progress into the higher levels the quests get amazingly good rewards and also very good experience and levelling actually becomes easier as you get higher imo
