ok, for my motherboard it says i can have "up to DDR3 1600MHz" but on the actual deatails it states ONLY DDR3 1600MHz (which is a bit pricey)
so which is it, OnRPG

It can only support DDR3 memory, but it support a variety of memory speed.

DDR3 1066/1333 (Native Speed)
DDR3 1600*/1800*/2000*/2133* (Over-clock Speed)

yup, its possible that some mainboards only allow DDR3 (i actually had it this weekend when i was building a pc, store clerck gave me DDR2 instead of DDR3, so i had to return to the store for something trivial)

also, if you scroll to the specs table, you'll see this
Memory Type: DDR3
